If you attend an Obama rally, please do not boo at the mention of Hillary Clinton's name
All that does is expose divisions within the party, thereby inviting some mousy little reporter to write and produce a story about it. The media loves to play up party divisions.

Besides, if you are an Obama fan, why be angry and bitter? Your candidate (our candidate) won. Let it go.

When John Edwards endorsed and the mention of Clinton was booed--I remember the look of disappointment and sadness on his face, and it kind of put people to shame... There weren't too many boos after that... Watching how Barack scolded the booers last night--I remembered back to how ashamed I felt at the earlier boos directed at Clinton with Edwards...

People do have the right to boo and hiss if they want---but it really is counterproductive and portrays us all in a bad light. I just wish people could suppress their lingering frustrations..

Seriously though--that reaction from Edwards stayed with me---and last night I remembered it vividly. It was like that look from a loving parent who is really disappointed when a child does something really bad--and they are hurt by it.

38. It may have saddened you, but it infuriated her supporters.
Between Edwards endorsement the day after Hillary won WV by 41% and the audience booing her, my phone was ringing off the hook with people telling me how they were not going to vote for Obama if he got the nomination. One guy told me: I'm 58 years old and have never voted for a Republican in my life, but this Nov. I'm voting for McCain. He made up his mind that night, I have spoken to him since and he still stands by his decision.

Sad indeed......

61. He may be a complete idiot
But most people, the VAST majority, are low information voters... most, the VAST majority, vote on emotions instead of issues. That's one less vote for Obama and I think it is awful. People should think of the light they are portraying their candidate in when they boo. Everyone is seeing them boo, including people they want to win over. It is immature to boo. Plain and simple. People have that right, but it is immature. People have the right to eat crayons... but it is immature (and mentally dysfunctional) to do it.

I hope that person who is now voting for McCain will change his mind. I'd urge his friend to keep calling and talking to him for the rest of the primary season and see if she/he can undo the damage that has been done. I hope so. Every vote counts, even the votes of people we think are complete idiots.

31. The "burden of proof" is on an OP making factual claims against Obama supporters.
The standards for political discussion seem to be dropping. Original posters making claims based on alleged facts that specific actions have occurred and are being reported upon in the press should provide at least one link to document their claim.

44. Burden of proof? Jesus Christ, we're not in a courtroom.
Only an idiot stands there and says "Prove it," when we've all seen it on televised coverage of Obama rallies. If it hadn't happened, Edwards wouldn't have had to address it. Obama himself wouldn't have had to address it.

Typically, it's the sanctimonious, self-righteous DUers who "reserve the right to boo anyone, any time, for any reason." Because NOTHING is more important than THEIR OPINION. And don't give me the 1st Amendment stuff -- this isn't a 1st Amendment issue, it's a basic political smarts issue.

Hell, you haven't even established that it's happened. You've only alleged it, and that's simply not evidence, no matter how much you insist it is.

62. Even in a court room
you do not have to prove common everyday knowledge. If you did the trial would take centuries as we provide evidence for everything. Evidence that the sky is blue, evidence that there is gravity, evidence that blood cells exist. Some things are common knowledge. If an event has been discussed extensively in the news and commented on by the candidates, and discussed on DU. It's pretty common knowledge at that point.

When they say "Hillary lied about Bosnia" I don't run around saying "give me a link" because her Bosnia situation is now common knowledge just as the booing of Hillary and Obama rallies is common knowledge.

Most people merely use "link please?" as a debating strategy. They don't want an actual link, (because no link you provide will be good enough for them), they want to use it as a debate piece because they have no other comeback against the issues.

Anyone on here who thinks it helps Obama when Hillary is booed at his rallies is not thinking with their mind.

66. "Link, please."
As if that's some kind of proof. If you haven't seen it, you're not paying attention. And if you're not paying attention, any "burden of proof" is on you to pull your proverbial head out of your proverbial ass.

Denying that boos have happened at Obama rallies at the mere mention of Hillary's name, until somebody posts a link to a video, is intellectually dishonest. We're not in a court of law here (and if we were, a mere "link" wouldn't be admissible anyway).

43. Obama has spoken in Michigan on more than one occasion....
If you can't post a reference, fine, but there's no need to get snipping with ME. I'm not the one who made the accusation that OBama's audiences were booing.

I've listened to most speeches Obama has made, and I haven't heard the booing.

This is an important issue because an audience booing after the primary was over reflects badly on Obama's supporters. Even if it isn't true, the GOP will take something like this and use it against Obama. So I would like verify the report first.

Please don't boo Hillary, Please don't talk bad about Hillary, Please kiss Hillary supporters ass or they won't vote for Obama in November, Did I miss any? Seriously, you gonna tell people what to do and not to do at a rally? I see some Hillary supporters have already chimed in with their attacks on Obama supporters (Democrats) based on some random people at a rally in Michigan. I have to ask why do you give them a platform to continue attacking Obama supporters (Democrats) on this site? When you post shit like this that all you are doing is giving them the in they need to get a few digs in on Obama supporters and at this point everyone who claims to be a Dem or a liberal is an Obama supporter because the primaries are over. Yea some people are still pissed at Hillary too damn bad, I don't think you posting a plea to not boo her at rallies on the DU is gonna change that fact. How many DU'ers do you think went there to boo Hillary? Hell those people who booed her probably never even heard of DU. You are going to have to go to every rally that mentions Hillary to get your point across, good luck with that.

32. It's a common thing at political rallies, it's not personal to Hillary, and I've always loathed it.
It makes the candidate or the candidate's introductory speaker squirm, but people do it anyway.

I think it's not as nefarious or damaging as some would suggest, in fact, it's kind of an American thing.

I remember my father and I watching Wimbledon once and laughing when it started raining, because the court announcer said, "There shall be no opening of umbrellas until the match has been called" and everyone just obeyed, while getting spat upon by the skies. My dad said, "If that was in America, fans would be opening and closing their umbrellas just to piss off the umpires."

We're an unruly lot. I hate it, but it will fade. Soon, our boos will be aimed at McCain. But there are still some raw wounds and I can see where people might misbehave in public. However, I don't see anything really damaging, in the long-term, over a little bit of inappropriate mirth-making, personally.
