VERY COOL: 360 Degrees Of Sen. Obama's Detroit Rally From Detroit Free Press (Obama Panorama)
Edited on Tue Jun-17-08 03:20 PM by Hissyspit
From Detroit Free Press photographer. Go on. Click the link:

Don't know if it is the Gigapan camera technology, but "way cool" (360 degrees worth), nonetheless.

lol.Not to take anything away from Obama. That's an impressive mix of ethnicity for a Detroit audience.I hate to say that about my fellow Michiganders, but it's true.Obama has already made change happen and he's not the president yet.

16. Nope, not Gigapan
Edited on Wed Jun-18-08 08:29 AM by Eclectablog
My wife, Anne Savage, took the picture and it's not Gigapan. It's digital camera with a fisheye lens on a panoramic tripod head. The image is a composite of six individual photos stitched together.

(That's me in the yellow t-shirt)

More coolness at Anne's website RevolutionaryViews.com.

the web page. I have a really nice Sony digital camera. I need to get one of those panoramic tripod head. I am hoping to be at the Dem convention in August. Tell your wife I enjoyed her "panobamarama!"
I wonder if this is the same product from Carnegie-Mellon:

As far as panoramic views as "Art," I think painter Rackstraw Downes had us all beat:

18. Thanks!
I'll let her know. The pano head she uses is from Manfroto $$$.

The Flash is simply to display the stitched image once it's been assembled by the stitching software. It can display as a Quicktime or Java as well. Flash is just more common these days.

By the way, niether of your links worked for me for some reason.

Tony Spina? My, my...

Actually, Anne is a freelancer and not officially a Freeper. This is her first "sale" to them but hopefully not her last.

Thanks for the nice comment.
