Kerry: Earliest Endorsement In LCV History; 92% Rating Over 18 Years
LCV Endorses Senator John Kerry for President

January 24, 2004

CONCORD, NH - The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) today endorsed Senator John Kerry for President of the United States. This endorsement is the earliest ever in the organization’s 34-year history.

“John Kerry is a man whose unparalleled record on environmental issues has earned him an extraordinary lifetime rating from the League of Conservation Voters, and he is clearly the strongest environmentalist in the field,” said Deb Callahan, president of LCV. “John Kerry understands that the American people need a president who will never roll over to corporate contributors at the expense of the health and safety of the public.”

“John Kerry understands how to protect our water and remove mercury from our air. This a man who will stand up to the corporate interests and tell them to do what is right for their country, not their wallets. This is a man who understands that the 2004 election is about the world we pass on to our children not passing the problems of our world to our children,” said Ms. Callahan. “John Kerry is the candidate to defeat President Bush, who has compiled the worst environmental record in the history of our nation.”

-The American people need a President who will take bold steps to protect our environment.

-The American people need a President who will lay to rest the false choice between a clean environment and economic growth.

-The American people need a President who will never roll over to corporate contributors at the expense of the health and safety of the public.

-The American people need a President who understands that energy independence is key to the security of our great nation.

-The American people need a President who is committed to work with other nations on environmental issues that affect all of us on earth -- before we move on to Mars.

John Kerry understands that Rachel Carson’s warning in “Silent Spring” so many years ago remains as potent today as it did then. John Kerry is a man whose extraordinary record on environmental issues has earned him the highest lifetime rating from the League of Conservation Voters of any candidate running for President.

---Deb Callahan, President of the League Of Conservation Voters

1. Yes, but there is a candidate for that other 8%.
That candidate is Nader.

Oh wait a second, he's never voted on any of that legislation so we don't know. Never mind.

4. Let's Look At Kerry's Scorecard At Nader's "Public Citizen"
Public Citizen:

http://www.citizen.org/congress/voting /

(If you need a Mass. zipcode, 02101 will work)

'95-'96
Kerry (D-MA) 90%

'96-'97
Kerry (D-MA) 92%

'98-'99
Kerry 83%
(Public Citizen opposed trade relations with China and the Caribbean Basin Initiative)

'99-'03
No individual scores, but you can see a detailed scorecard of Kerry's impressive (and progressive) record here.

5. But Kerry took money from an employee of a big corporation.

Nader, on the other hand, gets all his money from progressives (except for all the money he gets from right-wingers).

2. In New Hampshire?? bwhahahahahaha
Bush has been running non stop attack ads there for months now and still can't gain any traction.

His latest (the one and only feel good one) shows him talking about not imagining how tough it must have been for a parent to have to decide which child to pick up first on 9/11..*sob*

I had to laugh my ass off if they think that kind of childish garbage would sway anyone..

7. It blows me away that people could call Kerry 'Bush-lite"
How about RFK, Jr. as head of the EPA? Is that 'Bush-lite'?

Vote for Kerry for the sake our earth if for no other reason.
