Dem Strategist: I hope today clarifies some of what I've been saying
We know how to kick ass and we intend to kick ass. It's all about timing, tone, and tactics.

Which brings me back to my intitial suggestion: spend a couple of days sketching out a rough picture of the media landscape, then use that info to organize a spin-busting campaign.

3. Question...
Zell Miller is bound to get a ton of media coverage at the RNC - how much of a problem is this going to be?

10. Zell will get as much coverage...
...as the Republican congressman who has now publicly repudiated his position on the Iraq war. After all, that would be fair, right?

5. Very good; I hope Kerry keeps it up
But it's a little too soon to be celebrating, don't you think?

Doolittle's raid on Japan was a nice strategic hit and great morale booster after Pearl Harbor, but we had a loooooooooong, bloody war to fight after it.

6. You had me wondering there for a while
I think I can safely say that most of us here are tired of wimpy representation. I hope the Kerry team keeps the heat turned up. I'd like to see more of the same all the way to election day.

7. D_S, you do know that Bush .........
does not like to campaign from a defensive position. He will do whatever he has to do so long as he is the one doing the attacking. That is who he is. It's like a big game to him. He's an offensive player - in more ways than one.

And when he has an opponent on the defensive, he does not let up. It is no easy task to put him on the defensive but that is what must be done. We have to go into his kitchen and take his food out of his refrigerator.

8. Tres Useful Picture...
...I'd say. I don't have time at the mo to work on it but would love to - somehow.

I have family members who read The Nation, ZMag, and Mother Jones - all leftie pubs. We progressive/Dems 've got pissy little in the way of teevee (cable or otherwise) and AAR and maybe a few other radio stations.

I gave UP on NPR (see previous post, I owe them a nastygram in their postage-paid money-begging envelope).

Can we start by breaking this media picture out into:

Television
Public
Cable

Print

Radio

(wouldn't hurt to also list who owns them, as well, and opensecrets.org has info on mucho of their political giving habits)

Just some quickie suggestions...

9. I just got the latest e-mail from Mary Beth Kahill,
and I loved Kerry's speech to the Firefighters!

snip...
Of course, the president keeps telling people he would never question my service to our country. Instead, he watches as a Republican-funded attack group does just that. Well, if he wants to have a debate about our service in Vietnam, here is my answer: 'Bring it on.'
snip.

I can't wait until the debates - Kerry will demolish Bush!

12. D-S, the public needs to be reminded constantly of *'s
failures AND he needs to reminded that he's not his own man--he's a servant to special interests, Poppy's agenda, and his own cowardice. Yup, trickle down economics morphed to voodoo economic and now has morphed to doodoo economics under Junior. He's lost and floundering because this party is something he can't control. But we also need to be a party that can't be bullied. Keep it up.
