The fact is that McCain, not Kerry, has been wrong on statement after statement. Joe likely knows this. He also was annoying on his strange comments on "his girlfriend" - a head scratching phrase he himself uses to mean HRC.

Now, imagine any female commentator calling a male politician "her boyfriend" - I don't care if it was Bush, McCain, Obama, Edwards, Kerry, Gore or Bill Clinton - it would raise eyebrows and be seen as beyond unprofessional. That it is completely unlikely that he really likes her that much - it is sick.

but I watched the clip several times and they were the first words McCain said after being asked the question.

The Obama campaign is not attacking McCain or smearing McCain. They are raising legitimate questions regarding his understanding of what the hell is going on over there. He touts his national security expertise, but I haven't seen anything written to explain just what that expertise is.
