16. Sadly, it's not quite that simple (yet)...

To use custom smileys or other pics in DU posts,
you need to first upload them to a webhosting
service like Photobucket.com (that's the one I use)

The good news is, it's free and really easy to set up
and use an account. Once you've loaded some pics, they
give you links for each one that you paste into a post
to make the pic show up.

35. There's even another simple method to accomplish this...

Right click on an image, smiley or whatever...

Click on Properties...

Copy the URL, from http to end, and save it (paste) in a file, MSWord or whatever...

You can save a number of these, a collection, in this file and then copy and paste the URL here, or anywhere...



If you don't have an upload file this works just as well.

33. As it turns out, my copy of PhotoShop7 has been set up to do such things all along...

...and I never realized it. I think I've been running this version
for over 2 years now, but I just never clicked that one icon
to see what it was for.

I googled "animated gif + tutorial", and there it was...a whole
other program inside PhotoShop. Imagine my surprise!

I really need to find the manual and read it sometime- who
knows what other stuff might be in there?

...it looks like Skinner likes them, and is going to see
if they can be added to the official DU Smiley list!

If you want to regularly add your own pics or smileys
to your posts, you need to use a photo-hosting service
like "PhotoBucket.com"

There are lots of them, PhotoBucket is just the one I use.
Their FREE account took me 2 minutes to sign up for, and
gives me more bandwidth-per-month than I've ever used.
