What do people think about Pelosi as VP?
I hadn't considered her before, but the idea occurred to me while watching the DNC's press conference video.

A) she's a WOMAN ..

B) she represents a crucial must-win state for Dems in GE, albeit from a "latte drinking liberal" area of the state.

C) she could have become president anytime she wanted to be for the past 2 years if only she had listened to the
outcry among principled Democrats for Impeaching Bush & Cheney.

D) she appeared to be "part of the solution" in working with constructively with Howard Dean to successfully navigate
the stormy waters of the Obama/Clinton Primary battle.

E) she appears to have an amicable and positive relationship with Obama..

I'm not even sure what I think about her as VP, mainly because I've been personally SO-O-O pissed at her for taking
impeachment "off the table" for past couple of years, I cannot claim to be remotely "objective" about her ... but other
than buckling on impeachment, I admit I don't know much about her in terms of the over-all job she's done as House Speaker..

Reactions?

That said, I am not happy with Obama's year-old stance on this issue. It gives me considerable pause.

The hatred for anyone willing to let criminals walk is hardly ridiculous.

You would have a point if he wanted her to do it, and she refused. But he agrees with her assessment that impeaching now would be stupid.

Thank God Pelosi can count to 67, which evidently makes her smarter than most people here.

So why not push it? Obama would be less likely at this point, which would hurt our chances this fall.

He could back it if there was a groundswell, but shouldn't take the risk at this point imo.

Speaker Pelosi like Sen. Boxer represent a state that is considered a safe Democratic state. Even most people here including myself don't consider them too liberal..both their images nationally are as San Francisco latte liberals.

I believe they will be looking for a candidate who can help make inroads into rural areas, the West, the South or border states and whose image resonates stronger with working class voters.

Sorry to be crass, but it's the truth.. If he chooses a woman vp, she should be young enough to run as an "under-60" candidate in 2016..

Janet Napolitano fits..and maybe Sebelius (don't know her age)..but the worst thing he could do is to choose someone who might be perceived as too old in '16..

38. No, I'm a Californian and CA is already
in the Democratic bag no need to pick someone from here. Also Pelosi is needed more right where she is.

39. Sadly, she's too much of a punching bag for the right AND for Clinton supporters
I like her, but she would hurt the ticket.

There are certain varieties of plant life I would rather see as Vice President.

45. An O/P slogan: now, impeachment is off the table, tomorrow

everything will be off! Yay! Obama, McCain, Tweedledum, Treedledee, re legal accountability!

Because, it's clear, no crimes were committed against Iraq, against US citizens, against humanity. In fact, by gawd, a wonderful precedent has been set for "superpowers" everywhere and we can only dream about how such a precedent can be followed up on tomorrow - by a superpower here, a superpower there, that doesn't have to account for shit. For anything. Nyah hah!

46. If you HAD to have a female on the ticket.....
I would chose Barbara Boxer. AFAIK, she is a real fighter and fights for progressives.

55. I've been trying to get her to be president for the past 2 years. Looks like she doesn't want it.
Also, I fear the "vetting" would bring her down, given her collaboration with Bush's torture and black-site prison policies.

56. on the surface, she's good as you say but...
she's Speaker of the House, and a high-profile one - she's been weak and reactive and would actually be a political liability - there's TOO much record here.

57. NO!!!
After the many times that she didn't even pretend, as Speaker of the House, to stay neutral and kept saying no to a potential "dream ticket", she can got to hell as far as I'm concerned.
