So, I'm at a bar, and this lady next to me has a "Bush/Cheney" sticker....
... a folded, nasty, worn sticker, on her purse.

Where does one begin?

31. There is this yummy shot I make, with two names.
It's Grenadine, Citron Vodka, and Blue Curacao, layered. It's gorgeous, and to finish it off, you layer a teensy bit of Bacardi 151 and set it on fire before serving.

You can call it a "Patriot Missile" or a "Burning Flag," depending on the customer...

.... for you to a buy a new purse ?"

or

"I just happen to have a brand new Kerry/Edwards sticker you can use to cover that ratty old sticker ..."

or

"Don't you hate it when pranksters put ridiculous stickers on your belongings when you're not looking ? That must be SO embarassing to carry around ..."

I just kept looking over at her, so young, smiling, having a great time. It would have been the perfect response!!!

11. I never cease to be amazed that "young" people can like bush
How in the hell can a young person like bush's stances?

When I was younger (teens and 20's)no self respecting person my age liked the Republicans --I just don't understand what is the matter with these imbeciles.

17. I was brought up right.
During my brief, youthful flirtation with the local "Young Republicans" chapter, my activist mother calmly informed me of one simple truth:

"Sweetheart. There's no such thing as a young Republican."

That's just about all it took. :-)

15. Surprised at the suggested discourtesy here
Having just worn a Kerry button for a week in western Wyoming, I was very afraid people would treat me badly. No one did.

I thought that sort of thing was beneath us. Don't disillusion me, thanks.

Bumper stickers are designed for cars. And ratty, beat-up bumper stickers aren't designed for anything except the trash.

If any Bush supporter had made the kind of obnoxious comments that are being suggested by some in this thread, I would have been both offended and disgusted, and said to myself, "Well, that's just how they are. Boorish."

I understand, but it does beg another question.
Are we to play nice, while they play evil and dirty?

Drive through southwestern Ohio with a Kerry/Edwards sticker, and let me know what the response is. I think it's long past time we came up with snappy comebacks of our own... because if there's one thing you can count on from Dems, it's that we're more creative, and funnier.

I'm just trying to conduct a little research, for when things get ugly here in Battleground Ohio... and I sure won't choose my next president based on whose supporters are sweeter, ya know?

41. My personal answer...
Obviously in cars, you don't do anything dangerous. Shooting someone the bird for their sticker, say--well, it just seems juvenile to me, and as you say, it sure won't change THEIR mind, but merely confirm them in their opinions.

As to face-to-face encounters, I'd say if someone attacked me first, or was rude to me, certainly I would "fight back" as well as I could with something snappy and clever (which I would think of the next day, hah). I had actually rehearsed some ideas, because I wanted to remain positive in such a case. We are playing to a larger crowd in public--I would much rather appear to be the one who is sane and kind and smart than the snide attacker.

But I would not initiate a negative comment first to a person wearing a Bush support thingie of any kind. They have the right to do that, just like I do.

That's my personal take.

Obviously, what we say here is "just between friends," (cept for the freep lurkers) and we can be as snide as we like, which I do enjoy. Sorry I didn't catch onto that when I first read the thread.

And if you wore that Kerry button in this southwestern Ohio bar I'm speaking of, you'd have been given a hard time, I absolutely positively guarantee you.

Don't be disillusioned. We're playing, ok?

46. That's irritating LOL
You should see what I get at garage sales...
(that would be nothing good lol)

About the most interesting purchase I ever made was a straw travel bag from the bahamas circa 1960s for my kid's bedroom because I thought it was retro and cool (she was less enthused)

What I really hate, is when I buy some weird thing because I think it's a real find and then get home and think why in the name of God did I buy THIS?

It's just NOT FAIR! LOL
