I've already seen Hillary Clinton supporters now supporting Obama with full force
I mentioned in my Obama table report (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=6319666&mesg_id=6319666) about how I personally met a lot of Hillary Clinton supporters who were very interested in supporting Barack Obama's candidacy as well as were very good about wanting to defeat John McCain. I'm talking about people who were visiting Madison from all over the country... people from Pennsylvania, Florida, Michigan, Texas, California and other states.

These people that I met had made it known they were enthusiastically supporting Obama BEFORE the Hillary Clinton speech on Saturday where she officially dropped out of the race. It was very heartening to see people come up and want to chat about the General Election race and want to find out how to pitch in.

I would venture to say that nearly 97% of Hillary Clinton supporters will vote for Obama in the fall. They know the difference between another four years of Bush and the possibility that we can turn the direction of this country in a better way.

I actually feel that the Democratic Party is in much better shape than the MSM cable punditry want to let on. They want division, derision and confusion. When you see it in the streets, it's not there.

We are going to beat McCain handily and have both the House and Senate. The Republican National Committee leadership knows this. They are actually already looking at 2010. 2008 is going to be a GOP bloodbath.

Let's make it happen.

3. I was an Alternate at the MN DFL State Convention this weekend
And that was my impression, too. We crowded around TVs to watch Sen Clinton's speech. Immediately after she spoke, there were loud cheers from all and promises of support for our next president, Sen Obama.

I talked with many Feminist Caucus members. To a person, when I asked about supporting Obama, the answer was "Of course. We're Democrats!"

We Minnesotans are going to turn the state indigo this fall.

Thanks for your story.

No matter how hard the MSM and a couple blogs would want it, the Democratic Party is indeed united and will be even more so as the fall election approaches.

6. I think you are right.
The true number of those that won't vote for Obama is quite small, IMO. The media will push this story, but we don't have to buy it.

Good for you for posting this.

10. Just looking around and chatting with people the last few days..
Most people are looking to get the party platforms through..and even if their first pick was Senator Clinton, Edwards etc, we are all moving forward.. there are a few.. very few, but a few..that no amount of salve on that hurt is going to make a bit of difference.. they are fully enjoying being mad..and plan to stay there..

15. My 88 year old mother wanted Hillary bad.
Edited on Mon Jun-09-08 09:24 PM by Buck Rabbit
But she is now fully on board with Obama, who had the votes of all five of her sons, her 5 daughter-in-laws, 8 grand children and one voting age great grand child.

We didn't try to talk mom out of voting for Hillary as we all knew Oregon was going Obama and it was over anyway. BUT she is supporting the Lakers over the Celtics and this is causing major problems in the family!

17. I think the whole thing is created by the media and Republicans
I agree with you that most Clinton supporters will vote for Obama. Even my in-laws who are die-hard Clinton supporters would never even consider voting for a Republican or not voting. They already said that they'll vote for him even so they called him an "empty suit" a while ago.

Republicans are doing everything possible to divide us and to stir up shit. They win if Obama supporters think that lots of people who supported Clinton won't vote for him. It creates distrust and division. We still have a couple of DUers who seem to be intent on keeping the division alive. Makes you wonder

19. Even anonymous baiting about creating division will wash away with time
I firmly believe that there is a world of difference between online forum discussion under the anonymous cloak of identity versus how people really feel when you interact wih them in the streets.

If the last few times I've done the Obama table out in the street is any indication, there is the MSM redmeat political wedge world versus people who just want a huge change and are looking realisitically at how it gets done.

Even as I watch CNN right now, you would think Obama doesn't have ANY support from women. From my experiences, it is far different. The MSM uses a paint brush about 200 miles wide when they are trying to "make us think" long enough to watch the commercials, which oddly are either from the telecommunications, pharmaceutical or oil industries for the most part.
