deem the thread to be of sufficiently low quality or antagonistic enough that no more commenting is permitted by we the lowly posters.:D :silly:

Hence IBTL or In before the lock means to post a comment to a thread that the poster believes that will be locked in the very near future.

"The lock" meaning a thread will probably be locked by the mods

I don't think that it is irreparable, but certainly one speech won't repair it.....
As a nation and as a party, we stepped 20 paces back....her speech brought us 2 paces forward. She has a lot of work to do, and we won't get back to where we were, even when she does. It's a pity really......

But I'll take whatever bridge is offered....

6. Nah, I don't think so
Because the ones getting the pizza deliveries were the same mentality as those who were booing Hillary during her speech. And if Hillary can't even get through to those idiots, they will inevitably hear the knock on their door from DUominos Pizza.

22. Well, except for the fact that Obama has been gracious and respectful
and provided no ammunition that would have hurt her in the GE.

Let's be honest here. Hillary came at Barack like a Karl Rove Republican and put some really horrible shit on the record against a fellow Democrat.

While I will tip my hat for her finally conceding, the truth is still the truth.

And I have long maintained that the prolonged race has benefited Obama. The Clinton machine is much more aggressive than McDole's, and they threw everything they had at him. The GOP can't do a thing except for tired, old cliched stuff like calling him a 'liberal.'

Plus, it gave more time for Obama to bring in money and support.

The hostility will blow over quickly. I'm even willing to bet the HillaryIs44 crowd will fall in line.

16. Yes and No. There will be some, not many, that can't be turned around. That is our system and in
any competition, there is a winner and loser. It is what it is and can not be helped. Some people will have identified too strongly with the victim role.

18. I think she did some irreparable damage, but if she works her heart out campaiging for
Obama like she promised, it will make a dent. Great speech, but there are people who seriously need to be brought around.

There will be some people who she will never win back, but the vast majority of people will forgive her and her campaign surrogates for any perceived insults.

25. Let me explain the post for you, Stevie
By "damaging" the pizza business, I was referring to the commonly used DU slang for posters being 'tombstoned' by the mods for excessively flammable threads/posts. I meant to imply that her speech of unity and support today should go a long way towards ending some of the vitriol between Obama and Clinton supporters, and hopefully lower the tombstone count.

Sorry if you missed the point of the thread! :hi:

I think that it will very difficult to get the toothpaste back in the tube. If Senator Clinton is truly committed to work for Senator Obama, then today was a good start, but she's got a lot of work to do, and some of that work will be very uncomfortable for her--but necessary.
