54. Seriously, what percentage of
Hillary supporters likely to vote do you think will actually vote for McStain? (I'm actually curious to know your opinion on this.)

Hillary's speech today is the exact opposite of what she felt up to a week ago, it's a good bet she didn't even write it herself, and now we're supposed to kiss her ass? Anyone who wants to pucker up is free to do so, but I sure as hell won't.

My candidate didn't get nominated in 2004, and I voted for Kerry anyway. If Obama had lost, I'd vote for Hillary (even though I honestly loathe her), because the alternative is someone even less stable than Bush.

Yes, some people might stay home instead of supporting Obama, but think of all the conservatives that will stay home because Fred Thompson or whatever the other conservatives of choice were lost. McStain is not anyone who excites conservatives, especially with his stance on illegals.

I don't have the exact numbers, but if memory serves Hillary got about 18 million votes. A fair amount of those were Rush Limpballs supporters who think the electoral process is a game for Rush's amusement, but let's assume that 15 million actually voted for Hillary. I think we both know that those 15 million won't all vote for McStain, so what do you mean, mathematically, when you say "go it alone?"

37. It will be ok, Methuen.
This has been such an emotional roller coaster for so many of us. Just like the few people booing at the mention of Barack Obama during Hillary's speech just now, its just venting. It will all calm down soon, but some people just need to let their frustration out. Of course, any racist or sexist comments against either candidate (or anyone for that matter) should be alerted. Other than that, it will take a bit of time for every one to start trusting one another's intentions again.

It was a great speech
But I still don't want her on the ticket.

That ain't bashing, just reality. It's not "Change" if we keep the BushClinton thing going.

The speech was the one she needed to deliver to her supporters. And as you could hear from the boos in the crowd when she mentioned our next President, the Hillbots still don't get it.

43. I bashed Hillary before she was a Presidential candidate and as her constituent
I'll probably continue to when her actions warrant it. If she supports President Obama well in the Senate then I'll probably have less cause to do so.

45. I have a life time of working for progressive causes
and also of belonging to the working class.

She has a speech she made three months too late.

I guess the journey to undo a thousand miles of damage begins with a single step.

48. So, she gets a pass on future bad behaviors?
Should there be any, and I'm not saying that there will be.

She's free to do nothing overt to support Obama, but if she neglects to take action where there are opportunities to prevent a Republican win, it's our duty to call her on it.

50. Can we still criticize Clinton's votes if we disagree in the future
Edited on Sat Jun-07-08 01:25 PM by jonestonesusa
or is that banned too, now that you're the oh-so-objective moderator?

It was a lively and necessary debate that we all had during the primaries. Learn to distinguish fair criticism from flaming, practice that standard yourself, and we're all good.

53. well, let's see what she does after this--after all, it's "just a speech" and
actions speak louder than words.

she has been rather treacherous before--why should I believe everything is going to be different now?
she got the word that she better "make nice" if she wants the continued support of the Democratic big-wigs, but that doesn't guarantee that she'll keep it up.

I reserve my right to bash any "Democrat" who is really a DINO--Lieberman is a good example. That snake had the audacity to run as a "Democrat" VP candidate--now look at him, now that he's a "former Democrat"--he's endorsing McLame.

But nobody is "sacred"--if Democrats need to be called out on their bullshit, we should be able to "speak" freely.
