"He's a combination of JFK and MLK"
Wonder throws support at Obama

Soul legend Stevie Wonder has heaped praise on US presidential hopeful Barack Obama, insisting he will be a great leader if elected into the White House.

The 'Superstition' hitmaker launched his European tour on Thursday with a question-and-answer session with reporters at the Hard Rock Cafe in London, where he showed his support for the Illinois Senator.

Asked his opinion of Democratic nominee Obama, Wonder said: "He's a combination of JFK (former U.S. President John F. Kennedy), and Martin Luther King (Jr.). With that he can't lose."

The R&B star's European trek continues on September 8 in Birmingham, England and concludes on 28 September in Paris, France.

1. Sure...right...
And that isn't laying it on a bit thick.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I guess.

10. I've read enough, thank you...
To know of their incredible contributions. Mr. Obama may prove that he can be like them, but I do not believe he has accomplished anything that puts him in that league "yet".

He's a centrist Democrat heavily financed by Wall St.

Can we stop with the messianic stuff already?

. . . if judged by today's standards. And the potential for Barack Obama to serve as a catalyst, architect, and enabler of a modern representation of MLK's agenda cannot be overstated. I'd give the man the due he deserves in bringing a diverse collection of supporters to get behind his candidacy so far. I'd just refer you to what his own expressed aspirations are to round off the portrait of a man who could well become the greatest agent for racial conciliation since Rev. King's own important struggle for civil rights, equal access, equal justice, and social activism.

5. Somehow that doesn't make me feel good
Under JFK administration we had:

Bay of pig invasion
Cuban missile crises
Vietnam war

I hope nothing of this sort will occur under Obama. Though his recent performance at AIPAC was not very reassuring.

Obama at AIPAC: "I will do everything in my power to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. Everything in my power. Everything."

7. Geez, first the "lightworker" stuff, now this.
Frankly, all this mindless hero worship makes us look dumb. Isn't enough just to say he's the right person at the right time?

9. it makes perfect sense to speak to his potential
. . . his youth, energy, and mandate for generational change mirror JFK's own campaign. And his identification with and his commitment to the representation and advancement of those interests that MLK fought for in his time has the potential to further and enhance those causes with the benefit of his elevated platform of the campaign and, hopefully, the presidency.
