Is Norm Coleman Rove's Jewish vote magnet?
Why did Coleman tout being a "Jewish kid from Brooklyn" on tonight's Daily Show? He also said, prior to flip flopping to the Republican party, he had been a 'conservative' Democrat.

Up here in Minnesota we think of him as a bagman, an empty suit, a politician with zipper problems and a gross affront to the memory of Paul and Sheila Wellstone, for starters.

But are we missing something?

Does Rove believe Coleman can reel in the Jewish vote? Or the conservative Democrats who are also Jewish vote?

2. He's a receptacle--whatever message they want to tout he'll spout

Note that the vomited up the latest talking points on the intelligence meetings--Stewart wrote it down, I notice. Hopefully he'll investigate and find the inherent hypocrisy wherein the commission chair actually missed many meetings as well. The number they refer to actually I believe Roberts missed all but two. :D

(I have to check that, I'm not sure, so don't use it)

3. Coleman was appearing in NY City with a host
who is Jewish and used to live in NYC.

I don't know if we should be too concerned about the influence of Norm Coleman on the Presidential race.

6. I'm pretty sure he's completely insignificant.
Only the outsiders of a group see a group as homogeneous. Jews know that some Jewish men are worthless. The way Eskimos have multitudinous words for snow, we have words for worthless men: schmuck, schlimiel, schlimazl, shmegegge, shmendrick, schmo, schmatte (a favorite of my grandmother: "a tatah is a schmatte"), schnurrer, putz........

Coleman ain't fooling Jews.

4. most Jewish voters vote on issues, and they tend to be liberal on most
issues and that's why they mostly vote democratic.

the same goes with african american and many other voters. the republicans seem to think they can appeal to a certain group just by getting someone else who is of the same race, relgion or some other similar background go out and ask for their vote.

but it doesn't work that way. issues matter much more and that's where the republicans have a problem. unless they change their stand on most issues they will still be seen as a problem.

9. One goy's opinion
They trot out Norm Coleman, we trot out Carl Levin.
We win.
John
In Michigan's case, we don't vote for Carl because he's Jewish -- we vote for him because he's one of the finest men in the Senate. Repubs don't even try to run a serious candidate against him any more.

11. Norm's One Of The Biggest Flip-Flops
He switched from Dem to Republican - he doesn't know what the hell he is. Take it from a Minnesotan who knows. I lost all respect for him when he changed. He's just another Bush "yes" man.:puke: Pawlenty ( Governor of MN ) is no better.

13. This "Jewish Kid" Thinks Coleman's A Shtick Dreck...
He reminds me of a lot of spoiled rich Jewish kids who become JINOs...more anxious to prove their salt in the "gentile" world and specifically in the large power and social circles. This requires being a Repugnican and chucking your values. Coleman is a classic example.

I have several of these in my family...rich, self-centered and arrogant. Fortunately I dis-associated myself from them long ago.

Fortunately polls are showing JINO's represent only 25% of the Jewish vote...and a major failure for this regime that thought it could get as high as 50% of the Jewish vote a year ago.

Stewart was light on Coleman...guess he's the one who issues the press passes and the sweet table accomodations. LOL!!!

15. I didn't even know that Coleman was Jewish

Any Minnesotans remember the 1990 Senate race for that seat? Rudy Boschwitz's re-election campaign officially died when a group supporting him sent out a letter to thousands of highly populated Jewish suburbs saying that Boschwitz was a better Jew than Wellstone. It was a highly offensive letter that even Jewish voters were horrified by. Wellstone went on TV and blasted it, wondering how Boschwitz could stoop so low. Rudy was finished.

The Minnesota Senate delegation has been cursed for the Republicans since then. Dave Durenburger left office in disgrace. Rod Grams, the most boring TV news anchor in the Twin Cities, won his seat, and lost it to Mark Dayton six years later. Coleman almost lost the race to Walter Mondale, who entered the race a week earlier. Methinks Coleman will be another Rod Grams come 2008.

Edited on Wed Aug-18-04 06:59 AM by The Nation
It's a disgrace to think that he took the place of that great democratic senator from minnesota, Paul Wellstone, after he was MURDERED in a plane crash by repubs!
