Edited on Fri Jun-06-08 04:43 PM by Dr Fate
Disagreed with them from time to time, AGREED with them a whole lot more.

I for one am looking forward to letting by-gones be by-gones as far as any perceived slights during the primary or even before that- so long as I see them fully supporting the DEMS now.

I have a hunch they will- and some doubters will be pleasantly suprised.

Somewhat open to Hillary being on the ticket too- believe it or not- but I still like other choices a little better...

So long as I dont hear any anti-Obma posts or any of this "nut roots" or "elitist" type crap aimed at me or my fellow DEMS- count me in as being a pro-Hillary poster at DU....

Thats all there is to it- Hillary seems to be getting in line behind the DEM, and as long as that continues, count me as being behind her and Bill...

FYI

3. The Shull Death Mask is symbolic. You will only see it again if Obama loses.
Edited on Fri Jun-06-08 05:06 PM by Dr Fate
As cool as it looks, the Death Mask is inappropriate at this stage.

Some of the Dead's more interesting performances, in my humble opinion. Not as hot as Sha-na-na's killer number on the same tour though...

11. You need to rent "Festival Express" ASAP. The Dead, The Band, Burrito Bros, Janis, etc.
Edited on Fri Jun-06-08 05:25 PM by Dr Fate
And yes, Sha Na Na as well- plus Buddy Guy and others...

A really fun movie.

Plus, the lyrics to the Jerry/Hunter solo tune "Might as Well" are a chronicle based on this very tour.

2. will people be allowed to be a pro-Hillary poster at DU?
Currently, supporting Hillary brings rage and attacks even if nothing is said about Obama.

5. As long as there is no doubt that they are supporting DEMS, I see no problem.
It shouldnt be hard to avoid making arguments and points that could be construed as continuing the old battles.

Should be awfully easily to put up an Obama avatar, or openly support Obama in the body of a post as well...

I dont see it being an issue the more people settle down...

all those white men and Gov. Sibelius (or does it have another "e"...)?? for VP.

Oh, Janet Napolitano, whom I know nothing about -- is out. She was born in Canada.

Blame Canada!

If DUers attack Hillary otherwise, I'll join you in defending her. You can book-mark this post and hold me to that- so long as I can have the same promise from you as to defending the DEM nominee. Deal?

17. it's not going to be that simple
YOu're setting up a situation where Democrats cannot criticize their nominee. If you will recall, many Democrats had a lot of criticism for the way Kerry campaigned and were extremely vocal about it. Me included. And it was a stupid, flawed campaign. It doesn't look like Democrats will be allowed to critique the Obama campaign or the candidate without being accused of being a hater or some other vicious attack.

If you'll look even farther back, you'll remember that a lot of Democrats were full of criticism of Bill Clinton's administration.

If Obama is elected, will criticism be allowed? Or will it be characterized as hate?

This whole thing about silencing criticism is sounding sort of un-democratic.

18. Fine- then have fun continuing to attack & smear Obama more than McCain. I'm used to it.
Edited on Fri Jun-06-08 06:39 PM by Dr Fate
If you are talking about disagreeing with DEMS on legitimate strategy- (as opposed to negative harping day in and day out that exceeds attacks on McCain or posts in support for DEMS)-then we can talk.

If you are talking about the same old same old- ie acting like people did during the nomination, or like the Dean screamers who attacked Kerry more than Bush after Kerry won, then you and I will not be getting along.

If you are talking about agreeing with and justifiyng RW memes as opposed to coming up with ways to refute them (As some of the DUers you mention did as to SBVs or "Skull & Bones" to attack Kerry)- then we will have even more problems...

It's a fine line, but I'll bet you know where it is.

I was hoping we could strike a deal here- too bad we couldnt. I hope you clarify, b/c it appears that you are reserving some "what if" scenarios to justify continuing the attacks on Obama and his apparatus.

Me- I'll never attack the Clintons or their supporters unless they attack Obama or defend McCain voters- so the ball is in their court. I'm ready for a deal or truce as to that whenever you are.

I'm sure plenty of DUers will figure out ways to get around the rules and attack the DEM as did certain DUers against Kerry- but that doesnt make it right.

22. see?
You've illustrated my point. You aren't even able to participate in a discussion of how things are going to be in the campaign without falling back to accusations that smack, frankly, of paranoia.

I don't particularly care to "get along" or to "strike a deal".

I do most vociferously advocate for truth, for evidence, for
defense of Democratic values and tradition, and for an unfettered press.

I will not cover for any politician. I will not blindly follow one. I will not strew rose petals in the path or put him/her on any pedestal. I will not adore any. The more humble I can keep a politician, the better the chance that he/she will consider himself/herself a servant of the people.

And I will point out hubris and hypocrisy in the campaign and the supporters.

23. You either support the DEM nominee, or you dont. If you dont, then your excuses mean nothing.
Edited on Sat Jun-07-08 04:05 PM by Dr Fate
If you are planning on supporting the DEM, then I'm not sure where you are coming from.

Personal reasons, excuses, whatever for attacking the DEM NOMINEE during his battle against the Republican mean nothing. REASONS for assisting the GOP & media in attacking the DEM may help to justify it in your mind, but that doesnt help anyone else-except McCain.

Lets just hope that McCain doesnt gain too much ground while others are busy teaching everyone a lesson, or searching for "the truth" or whatever.

As I said, legit criticisms as to strategy are one thing- but if folks are going to constantly harp against the nominee, or repeat rightwing memes as opposed to fighting them, then they will be in the wrong.

I note that you didnt care to adress these particular concerns of mine- but responded with just a vague, general righteousness...I'm sure lots of folks are already planning how to skirt the rules so that they can continue the old nomination battles.

You guys will at least attack McCain & Republicans more than the nominee- right?...Right? I hope so.

25. I would say if it is constructive criticism, and doesn't paint McCain as more qualified
than Obama, it is fine IMHO. I would hope for a cooling off period before it starts though. Emotions on both sides are way too raw right now.

14. You know, folks. Obama took control today and made a couple of important decisions.
Edited on Fri Jun-06-08 05:35 PM by Radio_Lady
1) Dr. Dean stays.

2) No lobbyist or PAC money allowed.

I really see the ball being in Obama's court! He's the winner.

What do you want? Obama recognized as King, and the old, worn out, boomer generation Clintons as his serfs, scraping and kneeling?

I just don't get it. The Clintons started in politics in 1980, and have won eight elections in a row. Their place in history, for good or ill, is still evolving, but for most of us, it's a positive picture. Sorry to disappoint you.

Cordially,

Radio Lady Ellen Kimball (we're in the yuppie elderly generation -- 65 to 74)

15. I dont disagree on every point. All I need to see is folks getting behind the nominee.
Edited on Fri Jun-06-08 05:43 PM by Dr Fate
What ever it takes.

I dont think Obama or anyone else needs to beg supposedly loyal DEMS to be...well, loyal DEMS.

Scrapping & kneeling? No way- just support the nominee and refrain from attacking him & loyal DEMS who support him. It should be really easy.

I'm not disappointed at all- nor should I be, so long as folks support the nominne, and refrain from attacking the nominee.

I dont see what makes that such a challenge for people who want to claim to be loyal, party DEMS.

If you want my position, I'll never say an ill word about Hillary or her supporters again unless they are attacking Obama or the loyal DEMS who support him- or defending people who are threatening to vote McCain.

You are right-Obmama is the nominee- but the ball is the court of Clinton & her supporters to either be loyal DEMS, or not be loyal DEMS. Obama cant twist their arms or beg them to do the right thing.
