HUBRIS, a poem
Inevitable
waiting for the coronation
get in line, and lose your looney left attitude
Looney left should leave the party.
DLC is the only way to win elections, if you want to win you have to go DLC
you can be left, or you can be electable
SuperTuesday is the coronation.
Oops, some of those states don't count.
Dogwhistling
caucuses don't count
sexism, but not racism
how dare you
Rezko
Wright
Muslim
as far as I know
McCain is ready to be president on day one, Obama gave a speech
Too many people at his rallies.
Too many words in his speeches
empty suit
Cult
Koolaid
we're the victims here
race card
hard working whites
latinos will never vote black
the media is unfair
Fox news is the only fair media
kitchen sink
scorched earth
Superdelegates count
Superdelegates don't count
we have to win Ohio and Texas
Pennsylvania is the road to the white house
West Virginia is the road the white house
whites are the road to the white house
Only black people vote for him
Anyone who votes for him is sexist
Judas on Easter Eve
Delegates don't count
We won
We won't concede
We will change the rules
DENVER DENVER
make her the vice president
we will leave and vote republican
we will work against your candidate
You have to beg us to stay or we'll vote republican
You have to be nice to us
Stop picking on us
we demand you make her vice president or you'll lose
make her VP or we vote McCain
you can't make her concede
she's not conceding
How dare you suggest she concede
She's conceding, leave her alone
what more do you want, you can't criticize her
for unity, you have to accept us back unconditionally
for unity, we can still bring up Rezko, can still claim she won without consequence
you haters.

and I will add what Matt Taibbi wrote:

Hillary has only one path to victory — chaos, lunacy, the strong arm and dark, secret, cloak-and-dagger bullshit.

Edited on Fri Jun-06-08 02:42 PM by The Night Owl
...Billy Joel's We Didn't Start the Fire is mediocre and pedantic. I can almost hear him singing it.

28. Nice, but I like this one even better
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour;
he has looked with favour on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed;
the Almighty has done great things for me and holy is his name.
He has mercy on those who fear him,
from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with his arm
and has scattered the proud in their conceit,
Casting down the mighty from their thrones
and lifting up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good thing
and sent the rich away empty.
He has come to the aid of his servant Israel,
to remember his promise of mercy,
The promise made to our ancestors,
to Abraham and his children for ever.

30. I read this aloud to my husband
I put a lot of emotion into it. It felt good. It was like reliving the whole primary season from the point of view of an Obama supporter in a few short minutes, instead of those months that seemed like years. Very cathartic. All the drama, without the pain. I emailed it out to everyone I know who might enjoy it: political junkies who like wordplay and lean towards Obama.

Excellent work, Lerkfish. Thank you.
