Canadians favour Obama over McCain in poll
Canadians favour Obama over McCain in poll

Peter O'Neil, Europe Correspondent , Canwest News Service
Published: 2 hours ago
PARIS - Democratic party presidential candidate Barack Obama would beat John McCain in a landslide if the vote were held in Canada, according to a newly released poll.

Obama would take 47 per cent of the Canadian vote compared to 17 per cent going to the Republican candidate, suggests the survey of 1,005 Canadians done in late May by the British poll firm YouGov.

The remaining respondents either said they didn't know or refused to answer.

The poll also said 36 per cent of respondents agreed the U.S. was a "force for good" in the world, 34 per cent of Canadians called America a "force for evil," while the rest didn't know.

The Canadian survey has a margin of error of three percentage points, 19 times out of 20, according to YouGov.

Yea you Canadians are smart. My husband has the pleasure of working with the Canadian Navy here in Washington state. I love talking politics with most of them because they are so on top of what is going on in America.

14. so when are yall gonna give up this silly "independance" thing?
We could really use your votes. And your medical care system. Plus, we can help out with that whole "Quebec" thing. And we have some very nice, temperate places to vacation that we would be happy to share.

26. WhA???
I saw Starbucks there. And McDonalds. And everything I am used to here, plus Whitesomething and Tim Hortons.

Canada is EXACTLY like any US City, only without turn lanes, and they break your windows. Or at least, so says my experience

28. It was interesting to observe cars
Aside from your remarkably uncivilized lack of center turning lanes, Yall are decent drivers. Its always interesting to see what makes are predominant in different geographys. What are the common ones where you are?

33. I was really kean to move up there
Until I went up to BC, and found a horrifying lack of turn lanes. Then Canada broke my window, and I started to have serious second and third thoughts.

How about center lanes that can be used to merge into traffic, or to turn onto side streets?

Our Italian tour director and driver loved it, and a Canadian couple on our tour pronounced the shirt "beautiful" and said they would pray for Obama to win.

Loved the organic vineyards, friendly B&B's, and of course the Shaw Festival. I apologized at Ft George for my ancestors invading in 1812. Loved the food, too.
