Recent email from a very conservative friend
Here are some snippets from emails from the most conservative guy I know - we met in college and lifted weights together. Our workouts soon deteriorated into political arguments. This guy worships at the altar of Jerry Falwell, Ronald Reagan, Pat Buchanan, etc.

"I'm not voting for anyone this time. When I voted for Chimpy, I didn't have any idea he was going to make us an aggressor nation... nobody did."

"Yeah, Chimpy either duped those of us who voted for him, or (more likely) took leave of his senses once he got in."

Anecdotal evidence, yes, but in my little world, it's pretty earth-shattering.

4. He has a good sense of humor
I refer to Bush as Chimp-in-a-man-suit all the time, and he calls him Chimpy. Even when we slam each other for our political beliefs, we do it with smiles on our faces.

5. Make a deal with him:
If he will vote for Kerry, he can say whatever he wants to you about him for the first year without any response from you!

6. Ok, well tell him from me that....
the next time I don't feel like stopping for a red light, I'm running right on thru. To hell with it,I didn't ask to be stopped and no one consulted me about how to time the lights. I deserve to be angry and do what I want.

And while I'm at it, screw the charitable donation stuff. If this guy can forego his civic duty, why shouldn't I? There are all kinds of things I have a right to that I might just as well throw in the trash can.

Free speech? Who needs it.

Life, liberty and happiness? Tough. Bush let us all down. If a Repub thinks the thing to do is sulk and pout, why should the repub's have all the fun? Let's all find something creepy to piss and moan about.

Volunteer? Why bother. If the repub's world is soooo trashed because Bush let us all down, why should I volunteer for a damn thing?

Hang it all, why should anyone do anything anymore in this country because George Bush let us all down?

Why?

Because American voters have had to fight for this vote, American soldiers fight for this vote and American women and minorities have fought for this vote. A vote is not about a man or a woman or even a party, its about one's conscience. No one can take that away but some can sure as hell sell it cheap.

Anyone can join the long list of conservative whiners who will cave to the pressure of the national republican pity party coming up and get all churchy and stuff. Not everyone can admit that the guy they were told was the second coming turned out to be a turnip.
But everyone deserves the opportunity to make the admission.

Vote.
