The flood of "shame on you Obama supporters" threads
Edited on Tue Jun-03-08 08:29 AM by nomad1776
make me want to :puke:

There are only two difference between the two camps

1) The Obama supporters backed the winner

2) The Obama supporters backed the classier candidate that conducted himself in a far more honorable manner

Supporters on both sides faught a hard no holds barred campaign. No difference, other than the two things I listed.

Anything else is just being a sore sport, masked as some sort of moral outrage.

SO OBAMA SUPPORTERS BE PROUD AND HOLD YOUR HEADS HIGH!

6. I saw one that actually liken the situation to domestic violence
I couldn't believe anyone could cheapen such an important issue, by trying to exploit it for a losing political cause.

9. Yah - I saw that one too. That sort of thing minimizes actual domestic violence, and is just wrong.

15. It's a screwed up world where a guy that refered to his wife as a c**t, thinks he can
win over progressive women.

7. Smart politics might be
... to take a low profile on this and roll with the punches for a while. While there will be a small number of Democrats who will not support Obama in the fall, the vast majority of activists who supported Clinton will. But how long it takes them to clear the emotional decks and do so with any degree of enthusiasm is a big variable. Venting is part of that process.

13. It's not just about the Hillary people, the Obama people need and deserve to celebrate
Edited on Tue Jun-03-08 08:49 AM by nomad1776
their victory. It's been a long and difficult campaign. In football the team that wins the conference championship game, celebrates the fact that they are going to the Super Bowl. They don't worry about the team they beat. You can't just expect the Obama supporters to give, give and give some more. There comes a time when human nature, dictates the need for a little pride and celebration.

16. But the team that wins the conference championship doesn't
NEED the losing team when they get to the Super Bowl. Big difference.

17. God yes Obama people need to and deserve to celebrate
And no doubt that isn't fun for some core Clinton supporters to watch, but that's life. I'm not suggesting for a second that Obama supporters shouldn't show glee when he goes over the top. I'm suggesting that arguing with Clinton supporters over which side was more ugly during the primaries might not serve any good purpose now. Winners can afford to be gracious, they have victory to console themselves with. Sometimes being gracious only takes keeping your mouth shut rather than fighting back.

We've put up with their shit for months, and suddenly we're supposed to be everything they are not: tolerant.

If they want to be accepted, they can start by quitting acting like a bunch of babies.

24. YOU'VE put up with THEIR shit for months? Oh boy.
Sounds like a case of projection to me. 95% of this forum supports Obama, and about a third of that rabidly hates Clinton. Their posts reflect that. About 5% of this forum supports Hillary, and a fraction of that hate Obama. So let me get this straight -- you are whining about putting up with THEIR shit, when your camp's shit outnumbers their camp's shit by 10 to 1?

I shouldn't be surprised.

31. Let me give you a clue of some of the shit we've had to put up with here at DU:
  • Over 2000 threads initiated about Jeremiah Wright. Not 2000 that eventually mentioned his name. 2000 threads dedicated to that topic.
  • A constant stream of cutting-and-pasting from Drudge, Fox, and Michelle Malkin in support of Hillary or slamming Obama.
  • Ridiculous rightwing endorsements of Clinton.
  • Gleeful repitition of Clinton campaign points -- Sexism every Thursday, Blue Monday (with much sobbing about being victims, not unlike yesterday), and my fave was Racist Wednesday when we were "reminded" that Obama has no appeal to working white people.
  • An endless rotation of sock puppets from Clinton websites who came to DU with the single intent of disrupting -- and then bragging about it back home.
No doubt you can put up a similar list of complaints, but don't even try to suggest that the flow of bullshit has been one way.

26. I love the way Al Giordano put it on Sunday:
http://ruralvotes.com/thefield/?p=1301

Memo to Field Hands: If this is the first time you’ve won, don’t doubt it, and by all means don’t be so pathetic as to feel guilty about it.

Say goodnight.

And get ready to say…

Good morning!
