New Bush Ad - MTP
Did anyone see the new Bush ad they put on Meet the Press this morning? It will start airing tomorrow, claiming that Kerry hasn't shown up for most of his Senate Intelligence Committee meetings. Apparently Kerry has claimed he was in private sessions but not public ones. Does anyone know why? This was before he started campaigning, I think.

I live in Michigan, so we're likely to get saturated with these ads. Whenever that happens, people come to me knowing I support Kerry and I always debunk Bush's claims. I'd like to have a response to this beforehand but I'm not familiar enough with the matter at hand.

Anyone?

1. Check this thread out...
The thread mentions something about the claim being debunked at Kerry's web site.

2. check this out
source: http://ideamouth.com/respect.htm#missed

Missed Votes

Kerry handles the need to miss votes by having an arrangement with the Senate Democratic leadership to return should his vote be needed. He also places the way he would have voted if present in the public record. Prior to running for President, Kerry had an excellent voting record, with a voting percentage in the upper 90's. (Some conservative sources have made unsubstantiated claims that he had a poor voting record before running.)

3. Why debunk this at all? Kerry should point out Bush's vacation record.
This is just one more area where Bush's own record is far worse than his opponent's. Those guys are so desperate.

6. what good does it do to "address" it?
when the media won't cover it? When the ad will be repeated over and over without rebuttal across the country?

These negative ads are killing our country.

BTW, in the ad they quoted Pat Roberts ( R head of the intell committee) about Kerry's attendance. Turns out he himself only attended 2 of the meetings!

Can they really kill us with this junk? Just by following Goebbels advice of repeating the lie over and over?

:puke:

7. i strongly disagree
while it is clear that there is no way Kerry will get a fair shake in the media, it is still critically important for his campaign to respond in the best possible way ...

there are millions of political discussions taking place everyday among average folks, far away from the glare of TV cameras ... many involved in those discussions are very partisan and will not be affected one way or the other by these debates ... but there are still those who have not decided who listen to the ebb and flow of the national discourse ... it's important that they hear our story presented in its best possible light ...

btw, do you have a link for: Turns out he himself only attended 2 of the meetings! ?? that's great ammo !!

9. zerkly.....I keep saying this over and over....they MUST
make these responses somehow available for discussion on TV

I dunno how they can do it, but their surrogates are TERRIBLE at answering simply disspelled charges, like the 87 billion vote, which has lodged itself into the public consciousness.....and NEEDLESSLY so!

that was the EASIEST one with which they could have dealt.....all they had to do was mention that monkeyboy was going to VETO the bill for whihchj Kerry voted

what's WRONG with them?

you'll note how the media ignore that aspect, while repeating Bush's charge over and over and over

therein, of course, lies the problem, moreso than the pugs themselves

10. Someone called me to tell me that the vote missing ad
was discussed on CBS evening news.

My friend said it sounded very bad and was presented in the ad very well.

Anyone see it?

13. Positive Bush ad showing here ... I think?
I just saw the weirdest Bush ad here in Michigan. It was a positive one, not an attack one.

Its focus was playing the September 11 card. He was talking about how it must have been so agonizing to be a mom on September 11, and have to decide which of your kids you would pick up first from daycare. And he segued from that into how important it was, in a critical moment like that, to move decisively, without "hesitating."

I don't know which half was more outrageous, thinking that the agony of Sept 11 was picking up kids from daycare (as opposed to losing a family member), or the bragging about not hesitating as he talks about that day. Wow.

if he can stop hotdogging...

Seriously, I got into a tiff with Kerry people today about this...here in my state, but about a CONCRETE issue....

My attitude is: If the Repugs think it's an important thing to go after...then why don't we???????????????????/
