"At least slaves counted as 3/5 of a citizen"
I sincerely hope that this was a Republican plant and not a genuine Democratic Hillary supporter, because this kind of brush-off of slavery really kills optimism in the American public. Slaves did not get 3/5 of a vote. Instead, they were usually whipped, raped, and worked to death.

6. It also shows their ignorance about history
For free women have always been counted as "full people" in the census--the whole 3/5th Rule was for determination of congressional representation. Every census from 1790 on always counted women and their numbers were used to determine the total population of a region. The 3/5th Rule had nothing to do with an individual's right to vote, but rather on whether an individual could be considered a full human being. The implications of the Rule are that slaves weren't quite humans. That's why the statement made was, as you put it, manure.

4. It is also historically incorrect
Free women were counted as citizens, and were listed in every US census since 1790 (slaves were listed separately on censuses up to 1860). Women were fully counted. Neither women nor slaves were allowed to vote, but they were counted because it was population that determined the number of Representatives a state was awarded. Had nothing to do with who was franchised to vote.

8. Slave got counted as an extra 3/5 in population when it was time for their masters' votes to be...
represented in congress.

Since their states gave them no rights, the federal government shouldn't have let the states get more power for having them.

10. About that 1/2 delegate vote........
The Democratic Party Charter says something like the Bill of Rights in the US Constitution:

The National Convention shall be composed of delegates equally divided between men and
women. The delegates shall be chosen through processes which:

(a) assure all Democratic voters full, timely and equal opportunity to participate........

(b) assure that delegations fairly reflect the division of preferences expressed by those who
participate in the Presidential nominating process.....

The greatest tyranny that can inflict a fatal blow to a republic is when the citizens trash their own election processes when driven by blind support for a candidate.

It is hoped that one candidate will win in spite of and without dependence on the violent decision by the DNC yesterday to grossly misrepresent and deny the rights of the voters in two states - two states that are critical for a win in November.

Where did the 1/2 vote resolution come from? And more important: How does 1/2 a vote for each delegate "assure that all delegations fairly reflect the division of preferences expressed by those who participate in the presidential nominating process......"?
