Another perspective on the Swift Boat lies and the "authority" statement
Everyone was saying, "What gall! To attack a decorated Viet nam veteran about his service and saying he was "unfit for command". It was all over the tube. Kerry was getting killed by these reports. But, was he really?

Are the American people really so stupid to buy into that argument? Are most Americans unable to see that what they are really saying is that George W Bush is "fit for command" and Kerry is "unfit". How many people, including Repubs, really buy into that? In fact, is it not possible that this could backfire on the Repubs? It is absurd beyond believability in many peoples minds. So perhaps, we should just let them continue with their madness? It is Bush that is getting hurt by these reports - not John Kerry.

And, as for the "I would vote to give authority to the president" reports, the people most offended by those remarks are the anti-war supporters of Kerry. But they have already decided to support him even though he did vote for the authority to use force in Iraq. So who's left? Republicans and those Democrats that agreed with the invasion or agreed at first but now see it as a disaster. And if they do see it as a disaster now, are they going to blame Kerry for invading because he voted for "authority" or are they going to blame Bush for orchestrating the deception on the American people?

Again, I think if the Repubs continue to pursue this line of attack, the possibility is there that it may focus more attention on the Bush deficiencies than on whether or not Kerry made a wise vote or not. So both lines of attack have the capability of backfiring on the Repubs. It may not be as much a "hit" on Kerry as some of us may think. Just another perspective.

1. The American people are that stupid.
Vacant sheeple who would rather watch Fear Factor than have a second of introspection.

5. "May" this and "may" that?
If the Repubs get away with this they will win. If Kerry claims he is a "fighter" he has to show he is a fighter. We need some one who can run his boat straight at the enemy and run him down. As a soldier Kerry has shown he can do this. Now he has to show it as a Presidential candidate.

6. I'm just giving this as another perspective....
It is not necessarily one I agree with....but it may be one that many political "strategists" might agree with... :)

7. It is the kind of "perspective" that got Gore where he is today!
I just don't buy it anymore. I am sick and tired of "moral" victories. We have to take this country back and it can't be done by just resorting to reason. We have a population addicted to World Wrestling", "Survivor" and "Ultimate Fear". I wish it were not so but it is. Sorry to say, winning needs "attitude".
