Its Seems Like A Lot of Buzz Around Bobby Jindal For McCain's Running Mate Lately

The 36 year old two term congressman and current governor of Louisiana.

Would Republicans vote for a ticket with a man of color in the 2nd spot?

Many already dislike McCain.

With McCain's advanced age, would a 36 year old man be ready to take the reins should a crisis incapacitate him?

It would be an interesting strategy in an attempt to blunt the excitement around the youth and change message of Obama.

Any thoughts or dirt on this Jindal guy?

If McCain doesn't mind not being able to complain about Obama being inexperienced anymore, what not?

21. He's not nearly as stupid as Quayle.
Jindal's a pretty smart guy: runs right but governs center, save attention to a few pet nutwing issues that disrupt the interests of the business community. Watch this guy; he's dangerous.

Good point about the inexperience. His youth, too, is a problem as he's young enough to be McCain's son from a second marriage. Nominating Jindal this time around will be a sign of desperation. Eight or twelve years from now, expect BJ to be on the top of the ticket. He's that good, meaning he's that bad.

26. I don't think today's Republican party is geniunely racist.
I think they discriminate on class. If you act different from them, they won't like you. But as a rule, they don't have a problem with skin color. So long as the person acts like a stuck up country club twit and cuts taxes to zillionaires, they don't sweat it if your name is Yoo or Gonzales or Lieberman. Any man who helps 'em rape the environment is a-okay in their book.

Despite his very young age and being a member of a minority in a deeply Southern state, he has done very well. He is possibly one of the brightest (and I mean intelligent) politicians in the country. It would be a terrible mis-step to dismiss him.

I don't think they are ready for a non-white on the top of the ticket, but for VP, I think they would consider it. Particularly if their other choice is an African American at the top of the ticket.

If Bobby Jindal can get himself elected into David Vitter's seat with 88% of the vote and then get himself elected Governor of a state with possibly less people of Indian descent than just about any other, and all this before his 37th birthday...... well, like I said, Do not underestimate him.

38. Keep repeating those same old antiquated platitudes.
Republicans may get racist votes, but they only really care about the color green. I'm sure a few Dems in Louisiana with the same blinders on thought Jindal would be a pushover. He's a tough as nails campaigner and has the common touch.

Please remember that insulting your opponents is not a strategy.

47. I dunno, hypocricy maybe?
Don't be so easily distracted by the fireworks. For years Republicans have been trying to work up a new meme about "Democrats are racists" and "Democrats only see minorities as useable victims." Republicans also like to see themselves as the party of opportunity. They also aren't going to be blind to the "browning of America," a growing demographic trend in our public lives.

A Jindal nomination plays straight into that marketing need. They aren't going to repeat the Pete Wilson mistake from the 1990s that turned California into a permanently Democratic state. Bobby Jindal is the perfect way to counterpoint their weakness as being the "hate immigrants" party. It would also, make the RW Christian fundy base very happy. Pat Robertson & his ilk just luuurve Gov Jindal.

Some people may be racist, but virtually none of them wants to see themselves as racists. Having a safe minority, such as a pro-life, pro-corporate, tax slashing fundy like Jindal, on the ticket could actually pump some serious life into the moribund Right.

Try to remember that Republicans are thoughtful people, not cartoon villains out to embody every evil decent people wish to oppose. Also remember that insulting your opponents is not a strategy.

His name isn't Bobby, it's Piyush Jindall, officially. Bobby is just a pet name, like Barry for Obama.

And he believes in Ghosts, claims to have seen a woman 'possessed' and doesn't favor any exceptions for abortion (even rape & incest) - making him even more radical than Bush on that issue.

What the hell has this guy done that would make him even considered for the Vice Presidency? McLame won't be able to attack Obama's inexperience if he selects somebody who has only been governor for four months and is barely old to be vice president.

And considering McLame will more than likely only be a one-term president, this clown will be ready to run by just 2012. :scared:
