If your candidate ever DID become president, how do you think she would treat activists and idealists?

And how would she react to progressive protest movements?

This is a crucial question in terms of how Democrats should feel about a potential nominee.

What do you think her attitude towards progressive dissent would be?

I'm not trying to pick a fight, just asking for your views. This will be my only post in this thread.

11. To correct your facts....

Obama had been a State Senator for 5 years already in 2002. By the time he left in 2004, he had served for 7 years. In late 2002, Obama was just starting to run for US Senate, in the primary part against 7 opponents. That was a Statewide office.

But go right ahead....don't mind me. I am not a Hillary supporters, and that who should be responding, as that is who the OP was talking to. Sorry.

He could have been thinkin' bout' running for US Senate for the prior 4 years, but he was still a State Senator when he gave his "speech". As for Obama backing Activists.... even then the first words that came out of his mouth were....

I'm just saying. She has not been my dog since the Iraq vote that she still cannot justify or deny. They will never understand that they've outlasted their welcome as long as a substantial portion of the voters tell them otherwise. The Clintons are prepared to deny and defy the math at all costs.

I hope it costs them big time.

6. she'd be more politically expedient about them

Like when she praised and then criticized Move On. He'd be less likely to do something like that, he has a different style, more laidback. Hillary can be abrasive. I know an activist who met with Hill and Bill. She's forceful, to the point that she will even talk trash about Bill behind his back. She doesn't suffer idealists that she disagrees with lightly, for example, when doing her health care reform work, she dismissed and did so with disdain, the idea of single-payer health care. Also in terms of style, she's much more wonky, Obama can play that game, but he's more likely to wax philosophically on stuff.

For the most part, I don't think there would be much difference though. She'd be more likely to aggressively criticize and be expedient about it, but I don't think it would happen all that much.

They both will tolerate dissent. Certain movements they each might try to pick up something from, maybe pander to a movement out of expediency. I don't see a huge difference between them, because the personalities and styles are different, but the basic philosophy is similar.
