Alterman: Kerry: Wrong on the war, Wrong on the Constitution......
John Kerrys nuanced position on the war and his vote to give the president the authority to go waraside from being wrong on the merits--is clearly not working. I had a longish talk with one of Kerrys top foreign policy advisers earlier this summer at a party and he explained to me that the campaigns polling supported the position. The country was not anti-war; rather it was the anti-the way the war had been sold and was being conducted.

3. What's Up With The Writers For The Nation?
They don't get a candidate like this in a generation, and nobody except David Corn has anything good to say about him.

4. I agree with Eric too. Kerry's problem has always been listening to Repub
pollsters rather than to the people.

6. Note to Eric
This is old news. We all wish Kerry hadn't voted that way. Even though he can't say it, Kerry wished he hadn't voted that way. And yeah, he most likely did it because support for the war was 70% at the time. But it's done and Kerry is our nominee now. Nothing can be done about it now. So get the fuck over it and use your considerable talent to write about something important--instead of kicking our candidate and trying to make us lose, again, why don't you try to help us win.

I swear liberals are their own worse enemy.

7. What is needed a a virulent 3rd party attack on the war
and Bush's lies.

This doesn't have to come from Kerry, who can play the soft angles.

But we need pit bulls out there saying:

Bush lied. What was the real motive? Follow the money.

Iraq had nothing to do with terrorism until Bush went there. He created a failed state rife with terrorism where we *had* successfully contained an old cold-war leftover.

Yes< it"s going to piss off the families of the people who"se love ones gave their life for spit< but that"s what happend>

sorry< my kEYBOARD HAS gone haywire. < is a period and " is an single

9. Yep, I agree with Alterman
After Kerry's recent statement defending his IWR vote and saying he'd do it over again, even though no WMD's were found and Bush's war was based on lies, I'm seriously tempted to vote for Nader. Being that I live in CT, I know my vote won't be wasted.
