Can I make an observation about Hillary?
I think I know why Hillary won't say, "Well, we gave it our best, now let's get behind Obama."

The Clintons are "victims of their own success."

Bill won easily against the "best" the GOP could throw at him, three times.
Two presidential elections, and that impeachment farce.

Hillary easily beat her GOP challenger for the Senate.

So now they are facing a real challenge, in Hillary's bid for the presidency.
Not from senile Ol' Man McCain.

From the liberal democratic Senator Obama.

And they really don't want to lose, after such a winning streak in the past.

1. Bill didn't win all that easily. Ross Perot helped. And remember Contract on America... nt

3. Perot wasn't as big a factor as the hype suggests.
He took about as many democratic votes, as he did republican.

And the "Contract With America" was "Newt's PR Blitz To Get Us Into Power."
Democrats in the House and Senate were lazy, and corrupt, and Newt's PR made it look like they would be something new and better.
It wasn't.

5. my main point was he only got 46% of the vote in 1992 - not a huge win. nt

6. My main point is...
That Hillary and Bill haven't lost for a LONG time, and they simply don't want to now.

11. The conventional wisdom re: Perot is wrong
I can't back this up, granted, but I read an article about five or six years ago that swore the conventional wisdom regarding Ross Perot's influence on the election is dead wrong. According to the author, two-thirds of his voters were Democrats, so the old thinking that "Perot is why Bush lost" in reality should be "Perot nearly cost Clinton the election."

2. No one seems to remember that Ross Perot was a HUGE asset for Clinton 1992,
and a sizable one in 1996. I'm not saying he wouldn't have won without ol' big-ears in the race, but all that talk about "the most successful Democrat EVER?" And "The states that ONLY Clinton could deliver for us?" He had it easier than most give him credit.

4. Oh really?
In 1992, Bill ran against Mr "Read My Lips."

In 1996, Bill ran against Mr "It's My Turn."

Both were weak and flat-out stupid.

7. True. Then again, Obama's rivals for the Illinois Senate weren't exactly juggernauts
...and yet people use them as an excuse to call him a lightweight.
