I just got in and ..... Read the news today oh, boy ...
Edited on Sat May-24-08 12:34 AM by Botany
About a lucky man who made the grade
And though the news was rather sad .... Lennon/McCarney

I was busy w/ work and then drove to pick up my son for what I want to be one
of the best weekends of his life .... when I got in @ 12:20AM and read the "Hillary
Story" I went numb with shock & anger.

<"My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere
in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California.
I don't understand it," she said, dismissing calls to drop out.>

There is no excuse .... no apology ..... no f***ing thing that can happen from Hillary or
her people outside of getting out of the race and getting out of the Senate and never
ever showing her face in public again. She is a lawyer and should know better than to
ever say anything so awful .... or in other words; "I'll hang around in case Obama is shot and the party needs
a person to jump in." That is exactly what she was saying.

9. Hey there.
Yep -- an odd choice of contexts to advance a candidacy for the White House, at best!

I'm sure her handlers are not liking it much. There's two pretty good rules out there in the real world that evryone should follow. One is you don't re-record a Lennon-McCartney song and the other is you don't mess with the Kennedy file.

Hillary's assassination is to her campaign what William Shatner's recording of "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" is to art.

4. It's now too late for a graceful exit.
Thanks to her outrageous, mindless statement, it is time for her to just go away. People I know who would have willingly supported her, realize that she has crossed a line and is now on her own.

6. Yes ...
A portion of David Bowie's "Young Americans" seems apt right now:

Do you remember, your President Nixon (Senator Clinton)?
Do you remember, the bills you have to pay
Or even yesterday?

Have you have been an un-American?
Just you and your idol singing falsetto 'bout
Leather, leather everywhere, and
Not a myth left from the ghetto

Well, well, well, would you carry a razor
In case, just in case of depression?
Sit on your hands on a bus of survivors
Blushing at all the afro-Sheilas

Ain't that close to love?
Well, ain't that poster love?
Well, it ain't that Barbie doll
Her heart's been broken just like you have

You ain't a pimp and you ain't a hustler
A pimp's got a Cadi and a lady got a Chrysler

Black's got respect, and white's got his soul train
Mama's got cramps, and look at your hands ache

(I heard the news today, oh boy)
I got a suite and you got defeat

Ain't there a man who can say no more?
And, ain't there a woman I can sock on the jaw?

And, ain't there a child I can hold without judging?
Ain't there a pen that will write before they die?

Ain't you proud that you've still got faces?

8. Exactly, and to add to that ...
This is what she was implying to South Dakota voters: "Don't waste your vote on a guy who will probably be shot dead next month anyway, because it's happened before."

It was the ultimate dog-whistle, and it was infuriating.

11. True Story: My wife (Professor of Theatre History) did the same thing last night.
Her first words:

"Lucrezia Borgia for Vice President..."

12. Unbelievable-she should have exited stage left weeks ago.
All I can say is they must have made some big promise to powerful people in order to keep pushing in the face of defeat. Now, God forbid, something happen, some blame will be directed at her.

13. I don't think she intended it that way
but it doesn't matter, because my conclusion is the same as yours. Anybody who can say something that stupid and easily misconstrued - then doesn't see how it could be interepreted differently - really has to get off the stage.

15. Everybody can say something so easily misconstrued
if you completely lie about what was said.

16. no, we're all reacting to the source material.
after seven years of Bush, you ought to know how two people can see the same thing and interpret it entirely differently. There's just no longer any room on either side for the benefit of the doubt, anymore. The Obama people aren't discordians, they just want this to be over - and it just keeps dragging on.

14. She didn't say "anything can happen" - where do you get the right to make shit up!
You're the one who said it, not her. Thus, you get out of public life ASAP.
