What Can Hillary Do to Recover Tomorrow?
Her "apology" was anything but a real apology.

She is clearly very very very very very tired.

I view this as mostly sad, and pathetic, and dishonest --- rather than truly sinister.
I don't believe she wants Obama assasinated. But it was nothing short of depressing
to watch her deliver the statement itself, and the "pseudo apology" was even more painful.
I have critiqued her many a time on here, but this was just awful to watch.

The question - What will the impact be? Can she do anything about it??

And what - if anything - does Hillary need to do TOMORROW - in order to preserve even
her legacy, her political position, any shot at the VP nod? any political future?

Can she do anything to recover the Hillary she was trying to be at the end of this
contest? If so - WHAT???

53. Second that
at this point the facts remain unchanged - nothing about Puerto Rico/SD/MT will gain her the nomination. After today's comments, there is no way she could seriously be given the VP slot. The only thing left is salvaging her political career for the rest of her life.

For that, she needs to announce her exit from the race tomorrow. But I agree that she probably doesn't have that much character in her little finger.

So alternatively, and esp. since the votes in the remaining states couldn't propel her to victory even if she won 100%, she could stay completely out of the limelight until they are over, no more planting assassination threats in minds, no race baiting, no freaking comments at all. And then exit within 24 hours of the last primary election held (June 3?).

While waiting until then might make her feel like less of a loser, it will ensure she is never taken seriously as a politician again. A pronto tomorrow exit could go far to towards people eventually saying, yeah, she had a string of screwups, but remember she finally bought a clue, and left after the last inexcuseable one? Sure, let her have a senate seat still....

It is up to her - I am guessing she will again bet on the wrong horse.

or Obama siezes the chance to rescue her to help unite the party.

Any "apology" that contains the word "if" is not an apology. But you're right; the whole thing is just sad. The only thing she can do at this point that wouldn't seem even more pathetic and desperate is apologize to Obama and his family (without using any "ifs") -- and then pull the plug on what's left of her campaign.

I believe she did not mean it the way most think she did...I believe she physically, emotionally and any other kind of tired you think of and she screwed up bad.

I don't think this can be fixed and she has probably done more than just damage her campaign.

Sometimes you screw up by accident and it can't be fixed.

She was really treading close to invokable damage before this just in the way she was campaigning..Still I thought ..it could be fixed...now I think this has put her over the top.

Her legacy and political future have both already been written in the history books.

The best thing she can do is offer sincere words of apology to her supporters and to Democrats, and to do so in a speech of endorsement for Obama.

27. I suggest starting the day with a cup of coffee and a leisurely read...
of the NYTimes. Then, AFTER us peeps on the West Coast are awake, calling a big news conference to announce your ceding the race.

This should be followed by a trip to RFK Jr to humbly apologize for using his father's assassination as a campaign strategy, then on to Ted Kennedy's for more of the same.

Then she should crawl on bended knees to the Obamas and ask their forgiveness. She should be made to explain to the two little girls why she did what she did, and ask their forgiveness, as well.

Then she should call a limo and head to a spa for about a week or two. I would suggest drinking at least one bottle of champagne on the drive there.

that she has any concept of life without achieving the nomination.

There is a manic intensity to her campaign that has been really troubling from the begining.

I've gotten to the point where I honestly don't 'like' her or have much genuine respect for her, but I do hope she can move beyond this.

I hope she finds a way home.

37. HRC has long been DONE . . . long ago she was hurting herself . . . .
and now she is DONE, DONE, DONE . . . .

She early on reached a point where she was damaging herself for any future political career ---

and I think she will probably have a rough time getting re-elected to the Senate when that time

comes!!!

She has also not only hurt herself --- staying in any longer will cause more discord in the party ---

rightly so!!! --- and I think she has done harm to women --- and can still do more harm to women!!!

She sounds like an insensitive, obsessed jerk at this point ---

not the way we want any woman to sound ---

Thanks, HRC --- saying "GOODBYE!!!"

60. I'm guessing that she'll act like a cat.
Ever see a cat do something clumsy, like roll around on the arm of a couch playing with a toy until the cat accidentally falls off the couch and lands on the floor in an ungraceful heap? Does the cat slink away in embarrassment? Not any of the felines I've known -- they give me a "who farted?" look and go on about their business as if they meant to fall off the couch.

I suspect that Hillary's going to try to downplay and ignore the comment as much as possible. I don't see her admitting she's made a mistake, even if she realizes she has. She'll continue the campaign regardless, so she can drop out later and it won't be because of this remark. That way, she thinks she might have a political future. My guess is that she's afraid that if she did drop out now, she would never live this incident down.
