Obama is not electable. Polls to prove it!
Edited on Fri May-23-08 10:29 AM by thewiseguy
SUSA has a new Ohio poll released:

Obama 48 McCain 39

As for the VP choices, Edwards really helps Obama out in Ohio. (For whatever the reason)

1. Hey Clinton supporters. That's double digits by your standards.

2. If Obama wins Pennsylvania and Ohio then he is the president
And polls show him to do just that. He is currently beating McCain in other red states as well.

5. If Obama wins Pennsylvania and Ohio he wins by a landslide.
I predict that Obama will win much of the south, totally changing the electoral landscape from what we've seen for decades. The only place Obama is weak is Appalachia, which includes Ohio and Pennsylvania. If Obama wins Appalachia, he wins most of the country.

6. All other polls show Obama losing to McCain or 5 points less than Clinton - good luck

They have some interesting VP matchups though
Edwards seems to be doing consistently better than Hagel, Rendell, or Sebilius.

4. Kerry was elected president - the Repukes stole it.
Comparisons to Kerry and Gore - both of whom won their elections - don't scare me. The Republican machine worries me.

7. Excuse me,

but considering the media drumbeat to get her out of the race, the Obama camp nearly declaring him the nominee in Iowa and the party leadership throwing her under the bus, she shouldn't even be beating McCain but she still does. Furthermore, in some polls (like Gallup) she does better against McCain than Obama.

11. Of course she should be beating McCain
McCain is horrible, is running with one of the worst Presidents in history at his side, and half his own party can't stand him.

For all the guff she gets because of her refusal to leave a party that ended month ago, most people don't consider her a 'weak' candidate or someone who would necessarily lose the GE (if she won the nom more conventionally than by SD overthrow)

But the SDs aren't there to overturn PD results because someone polls "slightly" better. They are there to stop a potential disaster. And NJSecularists whining aside, there is little in most polls that suggest that an Obama candidancy would be anything of the sort. Quite the contrary, considering he has only just begun to organize for the GE and is already way ahead of McCain in money and ground troops, he is looking quite good.

Hillary does too, and if she had won the Primary - which she will not - Not many would expect any less of her.

12. Polls
Obama now leads Mccain In Ohio,PA,and Virginia according to Survey USA.Very soon expect the Hillary
supporters to only stite RAS polls. And when you consider he has only now started to campagin In
Florida he may have a shot there If Mccain doesn't pick Crist to be his running mate.Of course If
Obama did the wild thing and picked Bob Graham to be his VP he could still have a shot.

14. Given McCain's free trade stance, I would be shocked if
he could win Ohio. Since our primary battle in Ohio was a fight over who opposed NAFTA more, I can't imagine that McCain, who supports NAFTA and supports CAFTA without apology, could possible win either Ohio or Michigan. The logical disconnect is mind boggling.
