If you add up the attendance at Hillary's last 15 events, it doesn't reach 75,000.....

Yesterday in Oregon showed a level of excitement for a campaign that has not been matched in generations.

Hillary folks.... sorry... you just can't compete with that.

Obama is our nominee. Get on board, or miss out on history in the making.

Is she that former presidential candidate? Bless her heart.

Remember how competitive of a race it was?

And she had name recognition that didn't need to be bought.... he had to force himself onto the consciousness of America.

She started off the race with a BIG headstart in just about everything except for common sense and management skills. Now she'll be working her heart out campaigning for Obama in November.

And since it's prevented Hillary from getting her inevitable big state blowout victory, I think it's money WELL spent.

6. Hillary doesn't get the cult followers.
There are plenty in the U.S. She does get the votes, however. She has won far more votes in the states that Democrats must carry in November than Obama has. Facts are facts.

She has won more votes in states that Democrats WILL carry in November. He brings some new states into play. He's the better candidate against McCain.

8. Exactly the opposite.
She wins in Ohio and Florida and Obama loses according to current polls. McCain puts Oregon and Washington into play if Obama is the nominee and Clinton easily beats him there.

9. I don't know where you live, but I'm from the Pacific NW
and there is NO way Obama loses to McCain in Wa and Or. The brilliance of the 50 state election strategy is that we can win without Florida and Ohio if necessary. He is not only the more electable candidate but after tomorrow, he is THE candidate.

17. When you are a cult follower you say things like this.
I am a political realist. I look at voting trends, demographics, and polling trends. To say McCain doesn't have a chance in Oregon or Washington is foolish when you examine polls in those states. Just because your friends are all Obamabots doesn't mean the voting population of the state agrees with you. I am sure you have driven away anyone who has thoughts different than you. That is trait you share with others in the cult.

Edited on Tue May-20-08 06:20 PM by Oregonian
Seriously. Get a grip. There is ZERO chance of that happening.

Obama is far, far stronger here against McCain than Hillary, but even she could pull a win out here.

Oh, and, by the way, the cult thing was so clever the first 5,000 times you guys used it...Grow up...

12. You may want to check the poll numbers in Oregon and Washington
prior to making such an odd claim.

http://www.pollster.com/

Oregon - Clinton 46.4 McCain 42.5 Obama 52.0 McCain 39.1

Washington - Clinton 47.6 McCain 44 Obama 52.4 McCain 41.3

McCain is also ahead of Hillary in Florida according to the latest polling.

But more important than any of that is that history bears out time and again how little GE polls matter this far out.

Oregon 2004 Kerry: 51%
Bush 48%

Oregon 2000 Gore 46.9%
Bush 46.5%

I and most sane people would call both those very close.

It looks like you are the one who doesn't have a clue.

37. Uh - yeah. So you were stating your opinion of what the polls will be at
some future date as opposed to what the polls actually say. That's nice.

It should be noted that your opinions of what the polls will state at some future date are not supported at all by what the polls actually state, nor is there any reason what so ever to believe McCain would be able to compete against Obama in the north west, and every reason to believe he would be able to compete against Hillary there - which is the opposite of what your "opinion" is.

Reason generally has something to do with having a reasonable opinion - you don't seem to have one of those.

you need to provide some proof that Obama will not get nearly all of Hillary's voters, and will not get many cross-over republicans who are fed up, and while your at it, please include the MASSIVE Democratic turnouts in your conclusions.

thanks in advance and especially thanks for your concern.

23. I had this hilarious argumen with a Republican in Portland
(on another message board) He insisted that there's always 75,000 people in the park on a hot day (after first denying it was so many), and said they just created the illusion of a big crowd because everyone was forced to go through a single gate at the head of the park. According to him, most of the crowd was actually trying to get down to have fun by the waterfront and Obama was terribly irresponsible for clogging up the people's park when all they wanted to do was cool off next to the water.

I invited him to send me some photos from this weekend showing 75,000 people int eh park but he just kept abusing me and saying I didn't know anything about Portland, and how much Obama had fucked up the parking and traffic situation, while continuing to insist that people had stood in line for hours because they really wanted to enjoy the park, not come to hear Obama. Finally I brought up a map and pointed out that there were two other riverfront parks about a mile to the south which were actually larger :-)
