Edited on Mon May-19-08 05:24 PM by anonymous171
an attack on Michelle Obama is completely OK and acceptable?

17. 1. those are on DU, not media and not made by candidates. 2. pales in comparison to the attack on
Clinton.

3. there were 2 perceptually sexist statements, true. Still DU and not media or candidates.

4. The Obamarosa thing is out of line... still makes me laugh a bit, but out of line. (i have even chuckled as some of the nasty hillary names on here, as well as Biden and Edwards, so dont get started)

5. Most of those comments were accusations of her being racist, which may or may not be the case

to reiterate... not media and not candidates making sexist comments. just a jackass on DU. (which is not ok either, but I didnt think they were included under the umbrulla of the OP)

18. So the media isn't nice to Hillary so that means you can bash Michelle Obama?
I don't see the logic here. Why you are taking your anger with the media out on the Obamas?

BTW, it is worse that it is here on DU and Michelle Obama is not a racist.

20. Maybe my reading comprehension skills are rusty.
What exactly are you trying to say?

When I read your post it seemed to me that you think it is okay to personally attack Michelle Obama because members of the media and "candidates" are sexist and biased against Hillary.

13. cannot read that post my friend
I suggest you do the same and put that person on ignore. I have noticed that the mere mention of Michelle brings out the extreme hate in some. I think most of it has to do with black women should know their place. You see Hillary has a subset of supporters that are just racist point blank. Oh they will try to play the victim when called on it but there is a reason so many people have them on ignore. You know a bunch of racist, hypocrites, crying sexism wolf when they see fit. I just never thought I would see the day that a potential woman nominee would bring out such people, but here we are. The thought of Michelle makes them cringe and in my eyes that is a good thing.

14. Michelle Obama made some ill considered statements..
.. that have become rightwing attack fodder.

That is only to be expected from those who
use attack as a weapon and get extra help
from the media.

Hillary Clinton, however, has been attacked
from every which way, with an energy and charge
that reeks sexism.

There is a difference between the two.

This is not to say that Clinton shouldn't be
challenged on some of her more egregiously wrong
positions. She most defintitely should.

21. An attack on Mrs. Clinton is an attack on Mrs. Clinton
not on all women. That is ridiculous, imho. Politicians all are attacked--if they weren't, would they really be politicians?

Feminists don't identify with her, so she's fair game.

What possible reason could they have for not defending Michelle Obama, other than she's not a white woman?

26. Wait...are you sure it isn't "Sexists playing the racism card"?? Or maybe it is neither.
Does everybody who doesn't agree HAVE to be sexist or racist? Most likely they are just blindly supporting 'their' candidate and she isn't 'their' candidate's wife...or husband.

Maybe we should all just quit playing 'cards'.
