So as you can see the GE will be totally different. We really don't know how the public feels about any of the candidates. They will begin to pay attention around Labor Day. The economy at that time will determine what happens in Nov.

Any candidate who does not offer plans and solution will be bypassed. As the economy goes in the tank and when people with jobs can not afford to drive to their jobs they will go with the familiar who panders the most.

People know the president can not change anything overnight and don't expect it. They want someone who will cater to their interest and screw everyone else.

Keep this mind when pushing your candidate.

3. Oil is trending up in prices right now

Record highs every other day and Saudi Arabia pretty much told Chimpy to fuck himself when he begged for help.

After a summer of paying 4.00-4.50 in gas I'm not going to be worried.

I think the message of Change will run very well.

8. It was 60% of eligible voters
122 million people voted in the November election, a number that translates into the highest turnout -- 60.7 percent -- since 1968

9. Wasn't it about 121,500,000 or close there to--
Actually 37 Million is quite a bit for primaries....considering that Kerry got 59,000,000+ votes in 2004 in the GE.

Here are the demographics and stats from 2004. http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/results/states/US/P/00/epolls.0.html

Pretty interesting. I see that our vote get on the Black population and the age groups 18-39 are going to be much larger for Obama than Kerry got. McCain's portion will be much smaller than was Bush's on the youth and the Black vote.

12. See this thread. The real point of the story in the OP is that the man gave away
his last five dollars to a stranger who desperately needed it.

Why do you have such a low opinion of Americans--that they want to "screw everyone else"? Some do, I'm sure. Why do you consider that to be the general case?

Americans are also very generous, and are peace-loving and justice-loving. Indeed, the evidence is that we are overwhelmingly so. I'm talking solid evidence, like years of opinion polls--not just the bad feelings you can get absorbing too much fascist/corporate "news." We've been disempowered and disenfranchised and need to do a lot of hard work on our democratic institutions, it's true. But give us transparent vote counting, public financing of campaigns, and good grass roots citizen activism and organization, and we can transform the country in our true image. Take a break, CK_John. Refresh yourself. Don't create bad outcomes with your poor expectations.

both large, core groups of the Dem voting base.
