As a Hillary Supporter, I'd like to take this moment to say how much I FUCKING ADMIRE John Edwards
I admired John Edwards as one of my all time favorite politicians yesterday and I admire him every bit as much today! I respect his opinion to endorse Obama, and while I wish he had chosen Hillary I understand why he made the choice he did. I really, really hope that Edwards will have a position in Obama's cabinet should Obama become president. I also hope, should (by some off the wall miracle) Hillary become president that Edwards has a prominent position her cabinet as well.

I really, honestly believe that John Edwards means what he says. That means a LOT to me. I DO NOT think that many politicians mean everything they say. I do not think that Obama and Hillary mean everything they say, though I think they are fine politicians. I DO think that Edwards has strong, strong convictions. That is rare. He may not always be 100% "faithful" to his convictions at all times because NO ONE is, but I do believe that he feels each of them in his heart.

Someday, I hope that John Edward's name will be preceded by the words "President of the United States"

John is spending his time wisely, and trying in earnest to make a difference for people in poverty. My Republican mother donated money to him and was prepared to vote for him should he have become the nominee. It would have been her first Democratic vote since Jimmy Carter. And while she doesn't like Obama at all, and would "consider" Hillary, she freakin' loved Edwards... because she believed him.

Obama will make a great president. I will be voting for him in the GE and supporting him as best I am able to given my state I live in and my time. I wish our nominee was Hillary. She is such a fantastic candidate, and honestly I think that Edwards would agree on that even if he is still endorsing Obama. I think he was torn in his choice for so long because he believes in both of these individuals.

Anyone who decides they do NOT like John Edwards because he didn't endorse the candidate of their choice is a fool. Candidates just aren't that important. Obama is just not that important. Hillary is just not that important. They are very similar, not identical, but similar. I support Hillary with all my heart, but I don't have room for hate in my heart, which is why I find it hard to hate some other candidate for opposing her. Please stop taking this all so personally. That goes to everyone on every side. No one should HATE anyone. If you HATE Obama then you are WRONG. If you HATE Hillary then you are WRONG. And if you HATE John Edwards just because he didn't endorse the person you like the most... then you have NO EXCUSE.

*hug to everyone on DU, even the few people who will call me a Hillbot and probably bash me for breathing wrong*

-- David

Oh, I also admire Elizabeth.

I have used it in the past to refer to those posters who read like paid shills for the Clinton campaign. When it became clear that other people were just using it to mean "Clinton supporter", without distinguishing between the reasonable and the obnoxious ones, I stopped.

43. People can't make a distinction which only exists in your mind.
If I call anyone a disparaging name by virtue of their support for Obama, I don't have any control over who is insulted.

It's all counterproductive, even if in your view "they deserved it".

5. You're a real standup guy.
When there were rumors that Elizabeth might endorse Hillary, at first it made me mad. Then I said to myself, someone who has cancer has a different worldview. So even though I dreaded that she or John would endorse her, I was ready to accept that decision.

I enjoy silents; I kind of grew up on them. When I was a kid, our local public library showed lots of old silent films (mostly comedies), and my idea of a great time was to go to these movies.

I've really missed John (I supported him until he suspended his campaign, and I had to choose another candidate.)

I don't understand the "throwing people under the bus" mentality I've seen here and elsewhere when someone decides to support Obama. There are a lot of people I admire and respect who have put their support behind Clinton, but I'm not going to suddenly change and start hating them. It's silly to do that. I got to make my choice (or rather, my choices), and others have the same right to do that.

(And I admire the hell out of Elizabeth too!)

And stop the infighting. He couldn't say enough good things about Hillary even as he endorsed Obama and I believe he really meant everything he said.

We have to stop eating our own. I want Obama, but give Hillary credit for everything she has done and will do in the future to help the party.

We really need to just let the remaining states vote.

I agree 100%. No matter who he endorses, even if it had been Hillary, John is one of the few politicians who walk the walk, and the very idea they can only "bash" him on the price of his haircut illustrates that. No dirt = real integrity. We would only be so lucky to have more politicians that live up to the standard he sets.

Someone posted that his aids are saying he would be very interested in an AG position, and I feel strongly that he will be offered it by Obama. Maybe we should start a letter writing campaign to Obama headquarters advocating John for AG. :) :toast:

Edwards was my pick, and I was so sorry his economic message was too soon for its time literally by a matter of a few months. I seriously think that had the foreclosure meltdown started a few months earlier, it would have been a difference race.

Until it became impossible, Clinton was my 2nd pick.

I've been reluctantly supporting Obama, returning every time McSame opens his mouth.

But with Edwards backing him, all reluctance is gone. I am so there, baby!!!!!

Thank you for injecting some common sense and dignity in what has been a very polarizing primary season.:kick:

74. John For ATTORNEY GENERAL
Great post. I was for JE before it came down to BO and HC. I'm an Obama supporter but appreciate your viewpoint. I would love John as VP, but even though I think having him would pick up a lot of Hillary votes, feel that he would do the most good as Attorney General -- and clean up that stinking joint.

78. Good Post
A good point, well said.

Here's a suggestion: This is an active forum for Democratic activists. It can set an example for the sort of rapprochement the party's going to need in the fall. Let's tone down the rhetoric with each other and all set our sites on November. There's a genuinely extraordinary opportunity to stake out a dramatically new direction for this country. It would be tragic to blow it.

To paraphrase Gandhi, let's become the change we want to see.

Call me a pollyanna, but this year it's really too important for us to do otherwise.

80. Edwards sent out the request for money the same day as endorsing...
I removed myself from his list.

It's too late for me to switch my vote and vote for Obama! My primary is over. Is he trying to influence voters in other states who haven't had a chance to vote?

Now I realize why he couldn't run for a second term as Senator. His wife is smart enough to know that you don't piss off half the voters in a hotly contested election if you have a foundation and want to solicit money from the group as a whole.

No money to John Edward's college. Obama's corporate backers have deep pockets. Is this Soros' money?
