Obama/Edwards 2008
You know you want to. :)

Edwards has that populist appeal that some people say Hillary would bring to the ticket, but without Hillary's baggage, and without Bill. Plus, more people have voted for Edwards as vice president than any other democratic candidate ever.

He's vetted, he came out of 2004 looking better than Kerry, and he's a young, fresh face, with a message of change, just like Obama.

3. I would love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love...
... love, love, love that ticket to pieces!!!!

I was an Edwards gal in 2004, but an Obama gal in 2008. It was a difficult choice, but felt right for me. But to combine them... that would just be a dream come true!

Who among us doesn't remember the 2004 Election, and encountering people leery of voting for Kerry, but often saying, "You know, I really do like that Edwards guy, though." :-)

6. Heck, No
I like Edwards, but he doesn't bring anything in the Number 2 spot.

He doesn't have enough foreign policy experience to make up for Obama's lack. As the running mate, he's very likable, but not strong enough to carry the ticket (for those who don't like #1).

Furthermore, I think he can be very stubborn in his own way, and would chafe if he wanted to run the campaign one way and Obama another.

I think Edwards should devote himself to ACORN, as for helping Obama win, he should content himself with making appearances with Obama in the south and midwest.

7. I like Edwards. A lot.
And I'd be very happy to vote for that ticket.

I'm not sure if he's the best choice for VP, but if it happens, I'd be ok with that.

Not to mention...he's still young enough to run for President in 8 years.

12. In 2004, Edwards wanted to fight
And Kerry walked away.

Right or wrong, Edwards was ready for the fight. He is, after all, a trial lawyer :)

13. Baloney - Edwards wanted to wait till morning to concede and Kerry agreed with him.
Edited on Wed May-14-08 08:36 PM by blm
There was no legal case to make. Edwards has never said there was a legal case to make. The internet narrative is a complete exaggeration.

BTW - Kerry put away mob bosses, and there isn't another lawmaker alive who has uncovered more government corruption than John Kerry has, and did so at great risk to his life and career. You wouldn't know even HALF the crap you know about BushInc if it hadn't been for Kerry opposing establishment DC for years to uncover and investigate IranContra, illegal wars in Central America, BCCI and CIA drugrunning.

You can praise Edwards without sounding foolishly uninformed.

And Brent was right - at the time, Edwards was NOT interested in being the attack dog. He is a much better candidate now because he HAS accepted being tougher as part of the process.

20. Well, actions can be interpreted differently
by different people, with different perspectives.

For instance, I thought your "foolishly uninformed" comment was unnecessarily rude and boorish, and that you came off like an ass who thinks it must be the rest of the world that smells like shit.

But different people, with different perspectives, might think differently. :)

31. Productive Corrections I Can Take - Insults Only Breed Insults
And furthermore, I disagree that you corrected me, because I disagree with your INTERPRETATION of the facts.

At least we agree that you're an ass, so it's not all a wash.

24. Kerry/Edwards 2004 received MORE votes
Than any other ticket - Democratic or otherwise, than any other combination in the history of this country, with the exeption of the pair of No talent ass clowns that actually took the 2004 election.

I think that's saying quite a bit.

25. You have to think about who you'd want to take over as pres, not just who gets votes...
Getting votes and augmenting the ticket is fine, but first and foremost I want someone who if they take over would do a lot of the things that Edwards says he would do (end poverty, take on the corporate lobbyist crowd, etc.). If not Edwards, we need someone with a similar vision. If we do have a two term Obama presidency, we want someone that would run afterwards as the "blessed" person that would do the things we would like them to do.

Some of the talk about people like Hagel has to stop. And similarly, I really don't want Hillary "inheriting" the position after Obama's in for two terms, and frankly she'd probably be too old to win an election then anyway.

The process of fixing this country (and stopping global warming, etc.) is likely to be longer than even two terms. FDR certainly had more time to carry out the New Deal. We need to keep that in mind.

Also, we don't want to put a target on Obama's back if his second in command is more to the liking of the corporatists amongst other "fringe" groups.
