I am trying to imagine for one second
Edited on Tue May-13-08 07:20 PM by dsc
what the outcry would be if Hillary Clinton supporters trashed DC the way people are trashing WV. Yes, WV is poorer and less educated than many other states. It also is the only state that was formed by suceeding from the Confederacy and has one of the highest concentrations of veterans among the 50 states. Frankly, you couldn't pay me to live in WV, I will fully admit that. Being gay in WV would suck, which is why many gays leave. But there are many decent people there who just happen to feel that she would make a better President than he would. Just like there were many in DC who just happened to think he would make a better President than she would.

Honestly, just try to imagine posts about DC as utterly offensive and unfair as these West Virginia posts have been. People who posted that would be considered racist and probably would be on the fast train to being banned.

On edit I am not a WV, nor have I ever lived there, but I did live in a part of Ohio that is somewhat similar to WV.

4. There are idiots everywhere. Many of us have not said a bad word about West VA.
You guys have your wackos. We have our wackos.

But just as you were offended by the West VA jokes, WE were really offended by Clinton's "white" interview. Can you accept that at least SOME of us were GENUINE in our offense at her comments?

Respect is a two way street.

Just sayin.

Not even in this year when it's very possible we could have Democrats sweep the election here? We have strong Senate and House candidates, and it would really rock if Barack would make an appearance or two. He might even make a believer out of me.

There was an entire uproar over Bill Clinton's comments about SC, and regularly dismissive threads every time Obama wins the black vote in any state - but now you want to pretend they didn't exist. Nothing ever changes with you. You never see what you don't want to see. I hope you aren't this obtuse with your students.
