Intrade numbers..very telling
Edited on Mon May-12-08 01:38 PM by SoCalDem
last week CNN did a story about a couple who has made over $200K by "buying" McCain last summer when it was a nickel a share.. Apparently inTrade is not "legal" here (It's located in Ireland), but they still have "made $200K".. I don't know how they will actually GET their money..(they did not either)... perhaps they can buy Irish real estate with it or something

anyone else doing inTrade on DU??

2. Iowa Markets are legal

Should have done it there.

Speaking of which Hillary is at .075 and Obama is at .905

Put this in prospective McCain is at .935
for the GOP nomination

4. REally interesting is how Obama v McCain fare on Intrade, and ...
how various possible VP choices for Obama would affect that total. I have been suggesting that it should be a woman NOT Hillary, with a special emphasis on Barbara Boxer as a choice. But I definitely think THIS IS THE YEAR that it is important POLITICALLY to have a woman on the ticket, and a lot of voters are feeling it's about time for a woman elected in a presidential campaign. (I say this as a LONGtime supporter of Barack, donating to him even back when he supposedly "had no chance" according to all the smart money. I think he is so much better than HRC (and Edwards too IMHO) and that he should indeed be able to unite the party for November. But there are degrees of enthusiasm, and a well-selected woman on the ticket would be long overdue AND a political rocket.

Some people claim that Obama would be best moving to the center with someone like Webb or Clark, but that's another one of those
'compromises of principle that never really pay off anyway' like everyone suddenly jumping on a bandwagon in 04 to ditch Dean for Kerry on the grounds that the latter would oust Bush. Would a candidate like Napolitano or Schweitzer do BOTH? Neither have a lot of foreign policy background though.

5. me too.. He should choose Janet Napolitano
Arizonans LOVE her, and it would be such a hoot to snatch Az away from McCain..

wouldn't you rather vote for a winning veep favorite-daughter, than a LOSING favorite son?

and she'd only be 58 after two terms, and PERFECTLY positioned to run for president..
read about her accomplishments at wiki..she sounds perfect

6. Yeah, I have 250 on Obama @78-80
Edited on Mon May-12-08 02:02 PM by dbmk
Actually I have half of that on "not Hillary" because the price there as a tad better and one point.

Still hitting myself for being to lazy to send them the info needed to be allowed to go over that - when Obama was at 75 a week ago or so.

The only risk I see in that investment at the moment, and this is a bit crude I know, is if Obama somehow dies or is made incapable of going through a general election. And I would put that at very, very, very small numbers.
