Zogby Pollster: Polling data showing Bush is in Deep Trouble
Edited on Mon Aug-02-04 05:47 PM by xyboymil
I dont know if this had been posted, but it's really worth seeing again... John Zogby is a polling "God" according to right wingers like Mark Belling who sits in for Rush Limbaugh on the EIB.

Well, this year few conservatives want to report his polling data. And it's no wonder why:

The most recent Zogby poll shows deeper trouble for President George W. Bush beyond just the horserace. Mr. Bush has fallen in key areas while Senator John Kerry has shored up numerous constituencies in his base. The Bush team’s attempted outreach to base Democratic and swing constituency has shown to be a failure thus far, limiting his potential growth in the electorate.

-snip-

Mr. Kerry is also performing well in Blue states, among Young voters and among Single voters. In the Blue states, Mr. Kerry is winning 50% to 38%, while in the Red States, Mr. Bush is only winning 48% to 46%. Among Single voters, Mr. Kerry is winning huge by a total of 69% to 19%. And among young voters – 18-29 year olds – a group Al Gore only won by 2 points in 2000, Kerry is winning in a landslide, 53% to 33%.

Please read the rest of the article...it's got some very good analysis of what the polling data means.

Bottom line: Dubya is in trouble.

5. Rush Used To Love Zogby When His Polls Showed
Clinton Not As Popular As Other Polls.....

Now Rush calls the Zogby Poll the Zomby Polls....

It reminds me of how the Soviets used to airbrush out of existence pictures of leaders who fell out of power....

7. Almost all of the polls
are stuck in a "Kerry slighylu leads Bush" mose and have been in this mode for over a month. For about sis weeks I have been saying that I think it is because the polls are wrong about the number of undecided, and that pretty much everyon has made up their minds early. THis was largely caused by the front loadinbg of the primaries. It looks like there arealmost no voters left who have not decided who they will vot for and those who have decided are simply not going to change their minds. Those supporting BUsh now will do so in November, the same for Kerry. Kerry has a slighlt lead now in the popular vote, and leads in the electoral collge, and from the way things look, nothing is going to change in the next three months.

8. Undecideds will break at the last moment....and over 70% go for..
the challenger: John Kerry.

I do agree we are in a very polarized election this year with a majority of registered voters already decided and unlikely to change. There is little doubt this will be a close election.

However, detailed polling data like Zogby shows Bush has much to worry about. In areas such as the Catholic vote, Kerry is surprisingly well ahead. Hot button issues like gay marriage have been countered by support for stem cell research where Bush is losing public opinion on.

As is typical with Republicans, the are underplaying/ignoring the minority vote as well. Come November, a rude awakening takes place. :toast:

9. THe one thing I like abour catholics
(having been raised as one, I have noticed this from close up) Is that it doenst matter whqt the issues are, they will always vote for the catholic person running, no matter what. Most of this cuts towards the liberal, but occasionally it goes wrong and you get a santorum. If conservatives REALLY wanted to take over the country, they wouls convert to catholicism, and get almost the entire vote of an entire religious bloc.
