Take a Look at Hillary's Sad Little Powerpoint for the Supers (slides inside)
Edited on Fri May-09-08 05:02 PM by Stephanie

Can you believe this? For the first time in this entire campaign I almost feel sorry for her. This is pathetic.

Stepping up its efforts to push her case with super-dels and party leaders, the Hillary campaign is emailing out a Power-Point presentation to all Dems in the House touting her electability and her ability to carry tough swing districts.

Click on the link, I dare you... I double dog dare you.

See, Hillary would get more support if she made her product look like these sites.

Viral marketing. You have to follow the clues to get past the onscreen animation and get to the "real" site!

That way, people can feel like they got something out of it when they finally reach the "donate money" page.

"No, that's ELITIST!" she would probably scream.

PowerPoint of Hillary's.

I hope little things like this are maybe nudging some Hillary supporters towards Obama. Clearly, Hillary's total focus on this race is division by races/age/gender. There was nothing unifying there, nothing as to WHY she should be president.

Patience. Patience. Patience. (It's my new mantra and it helps if I write it once in awhile)

There are grammatical errors and it is a very low end/lame PP presentation. My 13 year old could do a better job. And moreover, the primary election does not portend success in the GE. But I guess that doesnt matter.

16. as I pointed out elsewhere, if you accept the premise of the powerpoint
all it proves is that the Democratic house candidate in these tight districts will lose no matter who is nominated for president.

That's because the premise of the powerpoint is that the voters that preferred Hillary over Obama will stay home and not vote at all if Obama is the nominee, or will come out and not only vote for McCain, but also for the repub running for Congress.

But whats sauce for the goose, as they say.
If the HRC supporters won't come out if Obama's the nominee, then it must also follow that the Obama supporters won't come out if HRC is the nominee. And in these closely fought districts, if a substantial number of the 30 percent of the voters that preferred Obama sit on their hands, then the Democratic candidate for the house loses.

So,excuse me if I find this less than convincing.

38. What you're seeing is a still version of what is probably an animated presentation.
When you see these in still form, it often looks as if the pictures overlap the text and the layout is messed up. But it's not. You just need to see it in motion to get the full effect.

I'm not saying this is good, particularly; it looks pretty desperate. But there's a reason the pictures overlap or obscure some of the text, and it's not because of amateurish composition.

You're trying to imply that the jpegs were made while the PowerPoint was in animation? Try again. This is just flat-out incompetence. It's kind of shocking.

68. No, actually I wasn't trying to imply any such thing. And you don't need to be insulting.
What I was saying is this: I've been given PPTs like this to proofread. (I don't design them, but I do sometimes proofread them.) And when they were printed out on hard copy, some of the images overlapped the text, and it was inevitably a situation in which the slides were animated. But it wasn't because the jpegs were made WHILE it was in animation.

If you want to call the designers I work with incompetent, that's your call, but there's no need to insult me into the bargain with that snide "Try again." I'm just trying to find a simple explanation for why some of this may look the way it does. I know it's a lot more fun to pile on Hillary's team because of all their various incompetencies than to try to point out one case in which they may not really have done anything so bad, but what the hell.

Also, again, I couldn't find any of the typos it's supposedly replete with, either.

40. OK, maybe someone can explain this to me...
Does Clinton's campaign not realize that winning over seniors, rural voters, 'hard working white voters,' etc. who are *already Democrats* is a completely different thing from winning over seniors, rural voters, 'hard working white voters,' etc. who are *not* Democrats? Or are they just banking on the SDs not realizing that?

I've never understood that aspect of her 'electability' argument. The fact that she polls well among Democrats in a certain demographic is no guarantee that she will poll that well in that demographic in the general election. Of course there is no guarantee that Obama will pull in those voters either, but still, it surprises me that nobody in her campaign appears to grasp the difference.

Ah well,

The Plaid Adder

I'm Old School. I like overhead transparencies, where you can get a lot of focus points, a few graphs if necessary, on a sheet, not have to quit clicking, and it's easy to make compact notes for listeners to take notes. PPT printouts are awkward, clumsy, and ill-suited for taking notes.

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to join your rant about PPT.
