CREDIT WES CLARK
Wes Clark's speech last night was one of the most powerful of the convention. The themes were that no party or president can claim the flag or a strong national defense posture for themselves; that Democrat presidents have been some of the most successful wartime presidents; that John Kerry is a battle-tested warrior who can drape himself in the flag as well as anyone. We are blessed to have had Wes Clark come to the Democratic Party, blessed to have had Wes Clark run for President, blessed to have had Wes Clark insert the steel into the Democrats' backbone with the credibility to back it up. Indirectly, Clark's candidacy helped Kerry get the nomination because Clark got Dems to realize that we could take on the Repugs on what was thought to be their turf, with Kerry being the war hero, but with the political experience which Clark lacked. Clark has been a tireless and selfless Kerry supporter and surrogate since he ended his own candidacy. But then, Wes Clark's entire life has been about service to his country. I would have expected nothing less. Bless YOU, Wes Clark....Ken Steiner

1. Yes, he was powerful & will be a great addition to Kerry's cabinet
won't he?!

He and Howard Dean have been fantastic sources of energy & inspiration for us all, including Kerry & Edwards. They still have much to offer the campaign and the next presidency, so I hope the dems won't drop the ball with them.

Let's not forget too that Al had people on their feet last night when he voiced what lots of us were feeling.

Love ya Wes, John, John, Al & Howard!

4. He did change the dynamics
with his candidacy. He took back patriotism and brought the Consitution into this election. Every time I see him I am reminded of high ideals.

Your analysis is right on the nose and something I had not put together yet. Thanks for posting it.

5. Clark and Cleland were a powerful one-two lead-in for Kerry. Let the
faux Patriots beware, their hand has been called.

6. Loved his speech!
It was full of patriotism and righteous indignation at the cynical viewpoint of the * administration of our troops as mere cannon-fodder in their new crusade to control the world. Only Clark could have called for a moment of silence to honor the fallen without sounding like he was pandering to emotion. When he ended the silence by quietly saying (with contempt)the one word ... "War", I got chills.

It's amazing that the "non-Democrat" in the primary turns out to be one of the most liberal and outspoken of them all. You gotta just love the guy.

9. I do...
Clark left a mark on the nation that will help elect a Democrat into the office...and that has always been the primary goal. Whether he is given credit by the Party heads, after last night, I pray to think so.

7. I just listened to it on WBUR.org
He was great. My eyes welled up a couple of times. He'd better get a position on Kerry's cabinet

8. Don't forget the Family Values is to Value Families meme
he started with his southern campaign and Kerry borrowed last night. All of a sudden it impressed the pundits.
