I Don't know If You All Noticed But, John Edwards Might Have Slipped On Morning Joe.
I had just sat down for some quick breakfast before moving myself upstairs to my office to begin my workday. Edwards was on Morning Joe and did a great job but I believe I heard him slip up and let the cat out of the bag.

The Lady on the show asked him would you endorse the person you voted for the other day? He said yes that is true I will endorse who I voted for, I mean I voted for HIM or something to that effect. Does anyone have video of that exchange yet.

Looks like Edwards voted for Obama :-).

2. Therefore it's not too late for an endorsement, and one will be coming.
I'm not sure what Edwards is waiting for, but I hope he wins some major concession to his own agenda. Or the AG slot. Or something.

46. Waiting for political expedience...
John Edwards is not a leader - he follows the popular perception at the time as it relates to ANY given issue - whether that's the Iraqi War or Yucca Mountain.

It is crystal clear from the link that he did not say "... or her." Would you please retract your comments from this and the other threads ?

21. Mika about 30 minutes later incidated that Edwards slipped...
Mika said that Edwards accidentally told them who he supported, so at least from her perspective, he said "him"

Sounded like, "em" to me, but I don't see using that for Hillary. I'da used "er".

22. Hate to say it (ex-Edwards supporter here) but Edwards is being coy....
for political expediency.

He's doing what many other SDs are doing: not making a commitment that could alienate a large portion of the Democratic base.

I loved the interview. Edwards is a truely great man. But the fact that he has not come out and endorsed a candidate, despite his tepid reasons given, IMO can only be for political expediency, to protect his options as a politician in the future.

IMO, I think this makes him unsuitable as an Obama VP or cabinet position, not when there are so many other great politicians who DID take the risk and support Obama even when it meant alienating the Clintons and risking their vindictiveness, and even when it meant that a large portion of the Dem base would remember it (unfavorably) for years.

I used to think that Edwards would be a great VP, but not now. Obama needs to choose a great politician who is also a loyalist.

42. There are several great politicians who endorsed Obama...
...and I belive that he will choose someone who is extremely competent.

There is a difference between choosing, for instance, Gov. Richardson, who is both loyal and extremely competent, and Bush/Rove choosing the head of a horse association to run FEMA.

...previous endorsement, or lack thereof.

Obama knows how the game is played. He'll choose a running mate based on their competence and their ability to pull voters from his weakest demographics.

I would be shocked if his running mate is not Edwards.

47. Disagree. It would be a slap in the face to his politician supporters, who took the risk...
...while other politicians played it safe and stayed with the powerful and vindictive Clintons.

Also, this is not a normal political primary so "how the game is played" is a little different. As much as OBama would have to watch his back if he chose Hillary, he would also have to watch his back if he appointed one of her loyalists, who may still be serving the Clintons, may carry tales to the Clintons, and may work for the Clintons' best interests, including sabotaging OBama's reelection campaign.

48. Um, he obviously voted for Obama. It doesn't matter about the him or her.
The key is he says that it is highly likely the person he is voting for is going to be the person he endorses and he's always said he will endorse the Democratic nominee. Unless something changes drastically, Obama is the nominee and that's why he used the phrase, "that's very likely." Which candidate at this time is "very likely" to be the nominee? Edwards is trying to be respectful, but it's obvious he voted for Obama based on this conversation.
