It assumes theres no reason at all to vote for Hillary in the primaries and that gumdrop would automatically get those votes if Obama was the nominee.

As much as I don't like Hillary personally I do recognize that she is a formidable candidate and she is a Dem. There are reasons to vote for her other than not voting for Obama cause he is a black man.

If he were to gain 50 percent of her "white/working supporters" his total portion of the white vote would be pretty damn respectable no? And I am pretty sure more than 50% of those Dem's will vote dem.

So I just don't see the argument holding any water at all.

2. I don't think race is that strong a factor, at least for whites. Or he wouldn't
have won all that he has, being that whites are the MAJORITY. The media, and now Hillary, are overblowing it as a factor for their own self-serving reasons, and damaging us as a country at the same time.

3. Her sole, consistant base consists of that old, ignorant white women crowd.
White folks under 65 increasingly have no problem with Obama, especially if they have some education background. Her ignorant base can kiss my white ass.

5. I am not saying it isn't a factor for some
Just that i think its effects are way over stated. I think he have two very strong candidates, I strongly disagree with one of them but there is no denying that Clinton has an attraction other than I hate Obama or he is a black man.

4. Let's be real, there is only one response to this argument--
Idaho, Iowa, Utah, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Delaware, Vermont, and Alaska.

6. Hillary is winning older establishment Democrats who happen to be white.

I do not believe racial motivations are the issue. These "white working class" voters are older, safer, establishment leaning, and numerous in this country's rust belt states. They have fond memories of Bill Clinton's two previous presidential terms. They lean Clinton because they know them and truly believe them to be the better candidate (there's nothing wrong with that). Obama is newer, fresher, and to those not willing or capable of researching it a perceived "roll of the dice".

Obama has to work hard for these voters, no doubt about it, but it's not a racial thing (evident with his mountain west showing) -- even though it's unfortunately spun that way by many. If we are to continue on, Obama needs to court these voters and we need to immediately drop this impression that "white voters" will not back Obama. Once we get on to the GE, with a little work, and coalescing of all party factions, we'll quickly start to see the fruits of a unified party (read: smashing McCain and the Republicans).

9. I have to credit that to another DUer
She said it was what she and her husband called him and she wanted to spread the meme.

I was instantly on board :)

8. Her argument is based on the assumption that all white voters chose her ...
simply because Obama is black. Any other reason is not even considered, which is ridiculous because it's a primary. There are dozens of different reasons to choose one democrat over the other.

A more likely explanation for her support is her husband. White, working class people did well in the 90s. I'm willing to bet that most of them will vote for the candidate with the "D" after their name, no matter who it is.
