Obama running mate should be
Wesley Clark.

this would silence the "lack of experience in a time of war" attacks that are coming.

34. ditto
There's been a lot of talk about Obama needing greater strength in this area and I think Edwards would be a good fit to help attract that voter. Edwards was my first choice for president (but had dropped out before the primary here) and I'd love to see him, and his goals, get on the platform and hopefully really make a difference for the working and middle class. America needs that as much as much as we need to get out of the business of fascism, war and torture. It's going to take a lot of work to undo the damage of 8 years of fear and loathing under W. I guess this is why I chose Obama over Clinton in the primaries, I know he doesn't have the experience that she has but I also know he isn't as deeply routed into the status quo as Hillary. To me that means that the chances are greater that we will see real change and not just politics as usual. It may be totally mistaken in that belief but it feels right to me.

I just don't think she could deliver Arizona going up against McCain. Schweitzer is probably the best choice from the mountain west, or else someone from Oregon/Washington. I don't think it's as important to have a female as it is to have someone who can deliver states in the west.

probably put her into office in Arizona, so I will bet that she can deliver the Latino vote, too. Watch the video. She is a great spokeswoman for Obama. Her voice is a nice alto---very mellow and pleasant. It should never sound shrill.

However, it's an electable ticket. If I had my choice, it would be Russ Feingold or Janet Napolitano. I didn't like Richardson's comment about "class warfare" when addressing Edwards on the economy, as if talking about the working class is class warfare.

Not Clinton. The others don't add anything to the ticket.

57. I Like Wes Clark as Much as Anyone,
but Obama/Clark would be the "too debonair, too Fred Astaire" ticket par excellence.

From a purely political perspective, Obama should choose a white male from a Southern or Western state that would appeal to working class whites. Being from a swing state would be a plus. Webb, Tester, or possibly Mark Warner might be good political choices, even thought they might not be at the top of my personal list.

66. White man looks too safe. Unless he picks an Iraq vet like Webb.
Bill Clinton's "pick someone like you so you look confident" strategy is a good one.

That is why he should pick someone who also has something that makes him or her one of this country's oppressed. An Iraq War vet is oppressed right now. A woman like Arizona's governor. Bill Richardson (great foreign policy, just not much of a pit bull and I am not sure that he picks up the working class base but he is so likable he might win over people). John Edwards would work because of his wife's cancer---except Edwards won't be VP again. Someone the GOP will look like pigs if they attack.
