|
this comment, also in the article. They're going to be hammering on this every chance they get.
"I would remind you that the president's opponent looked at that same intelligence and made the same decision to support the use the force to remove that regime from power," McClellan said. "I know he's all over the map since that time."

| 5. My question on this -- |
|
Did Congress get to see ALL the same intel as the WH or just the stuff the WH cherrypicked? Was the info give to Congress "filtered"?

Not that the repugs are going to volunteer that information.
Unless they are pushed hard.
But note McClellan is saying they looked at the same information.

Senators don't get the same briefings the Prez does every day, for starters.

|
This BS only works w "true believers"
Most people who supported the war did so because they believed Pres Bush. Most people (check the polls) now believe that Pres Bush either lied or exaggerated the evidence.

But he still needs to be called on this b.s. I don't think the election is a lock for Kerry by any means. & the public opinion seems very volatile to me still.

| 3. It needs to be said, and often. |
|
It needs to be a Democratic "Talking Point", as much as I hate the idea. Here's the phrase.
"President Bush lied."
Say it often, say it daily, say it every time a camera is pointed in your direction. The only difference is that this Talking Point happens to be true. Eventually it will seep into the collective conscious of America and everyone will "know" that he lied.

The Dems need to get down and dirty once in a while. We cannot let these so and so's run all over us and not put up a fight. Tell 'em Mr. Cleland! And Kerry, back him up on this. Please.

... the wingers will simply say that it's sour grapes on Cleland's part. He lost to the White House's hand-picked candidate, and he's still grumpy about it.
One thing, for sure--the Repugs are always quick with a smear in answer to any question, and as long as the press never follows up on the allegation, they continue to get away with it.
But, yeah, it was high time someone in the Democratic Party spoke the truth.
