Michael Moore interview in Playboy
Edited on Mon Jul-19-04 03:43 PM by Skinner
July 2004 Issue

Playboy: Originally you supported Wesley Clark to be the Democratic candidate. Why did he do so poorly?

Moore: He just isn't a politician. He didn't know how to lie. He couldn't pull it off.

Playboy: Were you surprised when Howard Dean self-destructed?

Moore: No, because I met him. My wife and I went to meet him with the idea of maybe supporting him. We brought our checkbook. But we weren't in the room with him five minutes when we thought, Geez, this guy is kind of a prick. Needless to say, we didn't write that check. I was not surprised the night of the Iowa caucus. He had spent the better part of two years in Iowa, letting people meet him. To meet him is to be turned off by him, so I wasn't in the least surprised that he lost. The concept of Dean was incredible. The movement behind him was a revolution, it was exciting to see, but Dean imploding was no surprise.

Playboy: What's your view of John Kerry?

Moore: Kerry has done a lot of good things. I have great admiration for him for what he did when he came back from the Vietnam war. His whole testimony to Congress against the war was on CSPAN last week. It was very powerful. He's really good on many of the issues, but he voted for the war, and he voted for the Patriot Act. I'm hoping he has genuinely changed. If he has, I'm willing to for give those votes. I want to hear his plan for getting us out of Iraq.

Playboy: What if he doesn't present one?

Moore: I'll still vote for him, because we have to get Bush out.

3. from what I hear it is because Dean didn't laugh at one of his jokes
but who cares? I'm sure had Dean gotten the nomination they would be working together. I respect both of them.

5. He thought he was a prick . . .
pretty simple. As a Dean supporter myself, I can see where he came off that way to some people.

13. Why Did He Think Dean Was A Prick?
Edited on Mon Jul-19-04 03:13 PM by DemocratSinceBirth
by the way if I had to rate the candidates in likeablity I would rate Edwards 1 DK 2, Joementum 3, Clark 4, Gep 5 , and Kerry 6...

This has nothing to do with their politics just who would be fun to hang out with...

2. If you weren't a long standing loyal member of DU
I would think you were posting Flame Bait.

....and you need to cut this down to 3 or 4 paragraphs as per DU rules.

7. I didn't intend to upset.
I like Dean too. I was more interested in the article about the anti-Bush stuff and the parts about democrats looking for the Arnold factor in our own candidates (i.e Oprah).

Also, sorry for posting the whole thing (this is the format I found it in from another blog which is difficult to navigate....I didn't have a link)

18. July 2004 Issue but nothing on F 9/11 ?
I enjoyed the article and he talked about a lot of his works but, except for the very end, nothing on F 9/11?

Now I realize that a Playboy issue goes to press many weeks or months ahead of time but nothing on the movie?

When was the interview conducted?

19. Probably has article the month before
The interview is on how he think the movie will effect the election. I have seen many articles where he promotes the movie this way.

I don't know if there is a review in addition to the interview (I don't have the magazine), but perhaps the article was in the month before magazine and this is a quick interview (like Time Magazine does on it's first page...I think it is john McCain this week)
