HOLY ****! Aren't people bored to death over ****ing Wright???
Edited on Sun May-04-08 03:35 PM by adoraz
My God.

I'll admit, when I first heard about Wright, I predicted it wouldn't turn into anything.

I was wrong, because the media replayed a 30 second clip 100,000 times on TV for a week straight.

This was obviously done to scare voters, and I understood that the media did it because it was a successful story.

Then, several weeks went by and they STILL went on and on about Wright.

Obama gave an amazing speech about it, denouncing those statements, yet that speech was given nearly 2 months ago.

I swear, for the last couple months, the only thing I have heard about has been Wright.

I honestly can not understand it, how are people not sick to death over this? The biggest development in the story was Wright's speech. No, scratch that, it was the only development in their favor.

What happened today was the final straw. I was very happy that Obama denounced him last week. I thought that would end it. I opened up the newspaper, looking for any written stuff on Guam.

Front page main story (this is the News and Observer BTW, probably the biggest NC newspaper) says "RACE STILL INFLUENCES VOTERS, POLLS FIND" (as if that is breaking news, no shit). Then I saw a picture of Wright and just threw the paper back on the table. No, I didn't even bother reading it, but I knew what it was about.

What does Obama need to do for the media to STFU about Wright? First he denounces his statements, then he denounces Wright in general.

I was watching the news this morning- all I saw was Wright.

This story seems to have so little to it- a pastor said 30 seconds of racist stuff, and Obama denounces him. I honestly can not understand how the media has kept this going. The argument for the story has been exactly the same as it has been on day one- guilt by association.

Every person I personally know, including Hillary supporters, are sick of this story.

Does anyone here still find it interesting?

edit- Oh, and BTW, I still can't find anything about Guam

2. The more we see of Wright the more tired we will be
and the less impact he will make in the General.

3. Nope, it's boring as hell, has been played TO DEATH,
but the m$m doesn't want us to forget about the big bad preacher man and what he said.
There have been some articles that are hitting back, and this, if you're interested. Here's Moyers' second commentary on the issue, aired Friday; if the m$m really cared about their 'integrity', they'd take notes:

8. what an ignorant reply, was that sarcasm?
In all of my posts, I think 2 have been about Wright. This one, and one the day the media first talked about it.

Whats your problem?

5. Look at how many wright threads there are and then ask
yourself if this is such a dead issue, why do people continue to post one way or the other about it..

9. well, this is the primary board.
I expect a lot about Wright here, even if people are sick of it. There isn't much to talk about (Guam and PA were the only primaries in the last month and a half), and the media keeps feeding it.

But what I don't understand is how this can still be headline news.

14. of my 691 posts here in the past few months...
this has been 1 of 2 posts about Wright that I can remember, the former being a couple months ago. I'd say thats pretty amazing for an issue that has been discussed to death by others. I just saw the news story today and couldn't believe it, so I made a thread about it.

Besides, you do realize that a thread like this won't affect what goes on in the media, right? What do you mean by "people like me"?

16. I mean Wright thread posters if you really need the definition
Want the issue to go away? It takes just one, then another and another to keep the message alive... I doubt our posts influence the media as well.. The media is another matter.. You can't stop them from spinning this wheel... Better now then later on in the campaign...

18. I see your point, but cut me a little slack.
I visit this forum every day, and I haven't posted anything on this in months. I am just very frustrated right now, thats all. What I saw today really did it for me.

I won't talk about it anymore. I am sick of seeing it being discussed, but I just wanted to give my 2 cents.

20. I hear that and I understand... Better for it to be put out now
then right before the November election.. It will be a dead issue for sure by then... It is just hard waiting for the media wheel to stop spinning it's opinion, not even news, but their opinion which is worth squat... :hi:

Edited on Sun May-04-08 04:39 PM by adoraz
you're right, it is far better to deal with this now than in November. I just can't believe how big of an issue it has become.

Hopefully if it continues to play, people get so sick of it they won't care anymore. :)

6. You may not want to believe it but
the Wright thing has traction and not just with the people that wouldn't vote for him anyway. How can you explain that in SE Ohio where NAFTA had a devistateing effect on our economy Hillary beat Obama 2-1. I would never have believed the white blue-collar workers would have voted for a women any more than a black person.

11. oh, I understand that it has affected him
but how can they continue to have this being headline news? The story has been the same since day 1. Who still reads this stuff, or wants to turn on CNN to see Wolf rant about Wright for the hundredth time?

24. No they really don't have to, whenever Obama's
name comes up in a political discussion they bring up Rev. Wright and some still bring up the Muslim thing. The ones that still accuse him of being a Muslim are for the most part Fox News junkies and I believe they probably would never vote for him anyway. It is scary though among die hard Democrats Rev. Wright is (the) issue. Another thing that drives me nuts is Republicans that blame Clinton for NAFTA. Obama supporters can legitimately bring up NAFTA but a Republican?

13. Amen
I'm sick of it. Not just here - but in the MSM too.

Can we see stories on the Illegal Occupation of Iraq, the genocide in Darfur, the stress the poor and middle class are feeling in their pockets, and the vast problems in our health care/insurance system?

19. I turned off the news for 2 weeks b/o Wright. My life was peaceful and happy ! I turned
it on again a few days ago and cannot freakin BELIEVE every single fucking headline in every single show on every single channel is STILL Reverend Wright. I turned it off again yesterday and will wait for news from here when and if Wright is EVER gone.

I swear, it surely is illegal at some point. What they did to Gore and Kerry was only a warmup.

23. Sick to death of this story
When it comes on any show I am watching, I turn the show off immediately. I go to church; a few times my pastor said stuff that I was very uncomfortable with. I didn't leave the church either. I ignored the remarks as most of the time he is very inspiring.
