...and have been a delegate at two federal leadership conventions for the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada (which no longer exists). One thing I've noticed with these pols that I met, is that they've learned to be very thick-skinned, in much the way that a door-to-door salesman has to be, in order to face the pointed questioning, violent attacks, and frequent rejection that the job offers.

Those who scream anonymously from the sidelines never have to go through that, nor do they have to choose their words very carefully.
