I saved 30 cents a day on gas!

Which was great, until I ran over that giant pothole that had never been fixed because my 30 cent tax cut came out of the fund for repairing the highways. Oh well, it was a couple hundred bucks to repair the suspension on my car, but it was probably going to go out anyway.

Of course, the day after I got my car fixed, the bridge I was driving on collapsed, destroying my car and putting me in the hospital in traction for the rest of the summer.

But hey, at least I got my tax cut! Well, I did for a little while, until the oil companies realized they could just charge more for gas to make up for the tax cut.

But it was nice for a little while!

If you save up for two work weeks, you'll be able to buy:


One pound of groundbeef (20% fat)

OR

One gallon of milk

OR

One package of eight (!) storebrand hotdogs

(Sadly, the storebrand rolls to go with them will take another 4 and a half days of saving.)

2. I didn't save money; I ride the bus! Then the viaduct I travel on collapsed.

And then the 110,000 people who travel on that same viaduct were completely screwed, and it took them all two hours to travel the 6 miles into downtown, too!
