I just spoke to D.A. Pennebaker, the director of "The War Room," who said his film had been doctored to produce a widely-viewed YouTube clip.

In a clip from his film on the 1992 Clinton campaign, posted to YouTube today, Clinton advisor Mickey Kantor is -- according to subtitles -- seen referring to Indianans with an expletive and to his colleague George Stephanopolous with a racial slur.

"He does not say that. He does not say that," said Pennebaker, after viewing the clip.

He said the initial expletive referred to the anticipated reaction in the Bush White House to the fact that Ross Perot's polling numbers were holding strong.

"What he says is he’s surprised Perot’s numbers are holding," said Pennebaker in a brief phone interview. "He says they must be shi**ing in the White House."

The second expletive, he said, appeared to have been entirely fabricated, with new audio dubbed onto the original movie.

In 1969, I was taking a College Psychology class in Indiana. It was at the time that everyone in college was looking at album covers and playing records backwards. The class had a few older people in it as it was in the evening. When we came in we were told that until he said otherwise we were not to say a word - with the consequence being failing the course. We were handed questionnaires. They started innocuously - Who is Paul McCartney? List some McCartney songs. What have we heard in the last 2 or so months about him.

The TA scanned them quickly and took the 3 older women aside and cautioned the rest of again on silence. While we watched, he asked them about the album covers - pointing out features such as Paul being barefoot. Last, he played a tape that he had recorded of Revolution Number 9 played backwards. We listened and many - including those of us who did not believe Paul was dead - had all heard "turn me on dead man" - but as the TA knew would happen - the women who were not primed to hear anything - said they couldn't make out anything. They also then were asked what to make of all the clues - again, nothing.

You can guess what our assignment was for next time. It did give her some perception on the Salem Witch accusations.

It sounds bad, but I'm not entirely convinced that's what he says, it doesn't make much sense for him to say that. Why, you know? What context does he have to say it in? And I believe he is talking about the Bush people, if anything. Not the people of Indiana or Americans in general etc.

I think by now I have been prejudiced with the suggestion as to what he does say. If it was plain to hear, then it would be plainly heard without the need to have to jump through hoops or wear headphones and turn up the volume. I have read many people from both sides or neither who claim they cannot hear or understand what is claimed to have been said, so I do not understand the claim that it is completely audible (and I am an Obama supporter).

A lot of this seems like the old Beatle rumor thing that went on about Paul being dead and the clues on the records. The proponents of the theory said that the final line of "Strawberry Fields" said, "And bury Paul". Others claim it said, "I'm very small" or "Aunt Mary called". You often hear what is suggested that you hear and that particular phrase (on Strawberry Fields) in neither loud or particularly clearly precise.

Before Clinton supporters get too self righteous about this, I am pretty sure that if it was the other way around and a YouTube video with something bad about Obama, many of you would have jumped on it and run with it the same way. The sad thing is that both sides are more than willing to believe the worst of the other side and gleefully embrace and revel in anything bad or disparaging of the other candidate whether or not it is real or exaggerated.

Razer sound card and top of the line Everglide headphones. I am a staunch Obama supporter. I played the clip from 4:40-4:55 several times. What I heard is the '... Indiana, those people are shit' comment; however, all I can reproduce from the next line of dialogue is, 'White (unintelligible).' It sounds like the missing word or phrase begins with a 'W' but certainly it does not contain an 'S'. That word is NOT 'Ni***r.' I turned the volume up to a point where it was borderline hurting my ears. We got the SOB on the first comment, however, unless someone has a good oscilloscope that may be the best we can get. Lol, maybe convince the pentagon fools it's another bin laden tape and they should be able to get better audio than this.
