MSNBC report: Voting machine problems in Pennsylvania
As Gomer Pyle would say, Surprise, surprise, surpise!!!

I don't have a link as of yet, but MSNBC just reported on TV that certain, predominately black precincts in Philadelphia, are encountering malfunctions. Only one or two touch screen machines are working in some precincts, and there are long lines.

Now why is it that the machines in upper class white districts work fine, but the ones in working class districts or black districts are mysteriously flaky?

Hmmmmm.

OK, who saw this coming?

1. What about in other areas of the state?
Did they report on whether this problem extend further to other sections as well?

18. Obama is favored to win large urban areas
How would this benefit Obama if the machines in urban areas with large black populations had too few voting machines?

19. I do. Inner cities are an easier target to suppress.
They are strongly pro-Obama. Other areas tend to be more mixed. They would get more bang for their Rovian buck targeting inner cities.

It could be just a coincidence, of course, but it's exactly Blackwell's strategy from 2004.

12. This was a given
Hillary voters will have zero wait time, while Obama's voters will have to wait up to an hour to get a chance to vote. It was like this in the last GE where Kerry's voters had to wait for hours to cast their votes, while Bush's zoomed in and zoomed out.

voting problems with limited functioning machines. It's odd that this type of thing always seems to occur predominantly in black areas, isn't it?

17. We got 2 years after the GE to develop and deploy a real voting machine.
So I think we have all the evidence needed to outlaw these machines once and for all as soon as possible.

We need a voting machine that uses paper and is designed so that the person can actually see their vote being punched and stored. And a machine manufactured by the government not by easily influenced corps.

20. More monkey business...
Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 10:53 AM by TwoSparkles
MSNBC initially reported that a PA election official was on the line to report
that voting machines in Philadelphia were "breaking down" and that in a few precincts
there were only "one or two working machines." This was reported to have happened in
areas that were predominantly African American.

Then, the MSNBC talking head reports that they lost the phone connection.

Then, the phone connection comes back up--but it's not same guy that was initially
on the phone (before the connection was lost), and HE'S DENYING THAT THERE WERE ANY
PROBLEMS!!!

He denied that machines were "breaking down" and was angry and a real jerk.

So, not only are problems happening, it appears that some are trying to cover it up.

Geez. All we want is free and fair elections.

Citizens in PA need to report on what is happening and speak the truth--take video or
pictures if you have to. If this is happening, it must be not only reported--but documented,
because it appears that people will deny reality--to further suppress the vote and affect
the outcome.

This is SICK!

23. Greg Palast saw it coming and I think he's there now
The US Attorney's fired last year were let go for their failure to assist with Election fraud 04, and to aid with Election Fraud 08.

The Rove recommended US Attorney appointee from Arkansas, resigned after Greg Palast turned over the voter caging lists to Congressman Conyers.

Conyers stated that a voter caging operation of this magnitude could NOT HAVE BEEN CARRIED OUT WITHOUT THE KNOWLEDGE OF CARL ROVE.

yeah, we're just a bunch of kooks...

Yeah, Greg has some passing journal entries on his website from a recent excursion into PA.

it's going to be nasty... they always need a close election, demographic polling with exaggerated features... political events.... all to shape public perception

So, is RFK Jr. a dangerous "conspiracy theorist?"

I think it's those that criticize our fears, that have had the Kool-Aid.

25. Isn't it great to see Hillary's machine in PA use the Jim Crow tactics once used in the South?!
It's a real measure of what Hillary's supporters among the machine in PA are really like.

Can you believe they're using the same old, mean, evil tactics that the GOP and the Dixiecrats used to keep black voting down? The classic is the use of one good machine in large black boxes, while the other machines there are mysteriously out of service. They send old, dysfunctional machines to the black boxes, and have plenty of good ones at the boxes where their candidate runs strong.

Shame on you, Hillary! Shame on you, Bill! Shame on you Pennsylvania Democratic ward heelers who would stoop to this!

26. I could have this wrong, but I've also questioned why most of the
voting machone problems always seem to occur in the less affluent areas, and I'm not only referring to PA. but in all the States that use them. I've read as many explainations as I could find on whaat problems existed and why they happened. In many cases, the problems were traced back to "training the poll workers". Some didn't power the machines up properly; some failed to load the new ballot information; some precincts stored the machines improperly and they got too hot or too cold or too humid during the long storeage time. All of those excuses could easily be cured with proper training. Is it possible we are seeing the same training (or teaching) problems in these less affluent precincts that we see in the schools in those same areas? Less qualified teachers, equipment not properly maintained, etc.?

29. Want to know how to hack eVoting machines? Here you go...
Watch Philadelphia mayor and ardent Hillary Clinton supporter say he knows jackshit about the voting machines:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHfnLXAOjDA

I'm guessing that the poorer neighborhoods are using the ES&S iVotronic....very unreliable and very easy to hack...

"...serious security vulnerabilities involving the magnetically switched bidirectional infrared (IrDA) port on the front of the machines and the memory devices that are used to communicate with the machine through the port. With nothing more than a magnet and an infrared-enabled Palm Pilot or cell phone they could easily read and alter a memory device that is used to perform important functions on the ES&S iVotronic touch-screen machine -- such as loading the ballot definition file and programming the machine to allow a voter to cast a ballot. They could also use a Palm Pilot to emulate the memory device and hack a voting machine through the infrared port.
