HRC: "Best way to overcome it (Bill's affair) is to become president"

http://salon.glenrose.net/?view=plink&id=7025

I have to agree that it's awkward for Clinton to have been told someone in the audience for one of her NC speeches felt sorry for her because of Bill Clinton cheating on her. But her response is very odd, I think.

A woman stood up and said, “Hillary, I love you. I always have and I always will. I felt so sorry for you when Bill had his affair.”

The audience reacted with noise and chatter, while Clinton reached for her glass of water and took a big gulp. “I believe now that the best way to overcome it is to become president,” she said.

Makes it seem like sort of a revenge thing.

8. "had his affair"
“Hillary, I love you. I always have and I always will. I felt so sorry for you when Bill had his affair.”

I saw that on tv with my Mom today, and we were both like "What? That's fucked up!" I love when people are being socially awkward and they are oblivious to it. Maybe Hillary was taken aback by the way the woman worded it, but I thought the response was strange as well.

OK.

Hillary wants to be President because it's the best way for her to overcome the tragedy that her husband publically humiliated her by having an affair while he was President?

So it is really ALL ABOUT HER... wow.

33. And we have all these Clinton supporters who insist Bill's affairs are none of our business?
How much of what she is doing is tied to a life of having to endure living with that pain and humiliation? As President, she certainly would have a whole lot of power over Bill. In retrospect this is the only way she can be the one with the upper hand.

Poor Bill.

And it wasn't the first time either. Who do we have now, Flowers, Paula Jones, Lewinsky, just to name some of the ones we KNOW about? I think I lost count! Why didn't she leave him the first or 2nd time it happened? She must have been well aware of Bill's womanizing habits long before they got into the WH.

would be DIVORCE.

this is why i've always loathed the clintons. i cannont wrap my mind around a woman of hillary's public and political stature staying married to a serial abuser. any reason you could possibly dream up for it (i.e. opportunism) that doesn't involve intervention, doesn't look good on the woman in question, especially when she's a candidate for president.

a marriage of convenience, which is entirely likely, doesn't speak well to her character.

ick.

had nothing to do with a desire to do good for the country.

It's just another battle in this freakish co-dependent couple's marital war, which they've foisted on the entire country.

I wish they had the ability to just go away and leave us all alone. Do we really want another 4 years of one of the most dysfunctional families in American history?
