Anyone else get the feeling Braun and Dean are close?
When I watch the debates it seems Braun and Dean are pretty close in a friendship sense. Braun has defended Dean a few times, hell they even danced at the end of an even in Iowa.

When Braun drops out, will she throw her support behind Dean? Both are pretty close on the issues, so who knows?

I wouldn't be surprised if she and Howard are friends; she's a nice lady. :)

Holy Christ, I'm not going to vote for Dean now because I've just been enlightened. I wouldn't want to vote for 'an odd duck', whatever the eff that means.

21. Well right now she's my second President choice, behind Dean
As for VP, I don't have any set system, but she'd be on it if I did.

23. Oh...duh...
you meant second choice for President, not VP. After Braun, I'm not sure who I'd like to see as Dean's VP. Maybe Graham. I wanted Clark months ago, but apparently he isn't interested in being Dean's VP.

25. If Dean picks Braun he won't get over
thirty percent. He needs somebody who can reach out to moderates. What would Braun bring to the ticket? Dean already has the liberals.

26. First African American, first woman.
There's a lot of voters out there that need a voice that she could provide.

Dean has the moderates, he will get many Republicans, libertarians, swing voters, all be himself. This time we're going to win big and take back the country. That ticket would be great.

28. SECOND woman, don't forget the Mondale-Ferraro ticket.

Dubya's mother referred to Geraldine Ferraro as a "witch" but we knew what she meant. Poppy Bush had to debate Geraldine in the VP debates that year. as he and Reagan were campaigning for a second term.

but she didn't make it, so I wasn't counting her. She certainly set the precedent as a VP candidate.

35. Dean will need someone in the center and with some gravitas
Clark, Sam Nunn, etc. Dean already has the left wing sewn up.

37. I don't think we'll be needing those RWers.
I think there is a lot of DLC fear tactics floating around, but I don't respond to them. I want to make a clean break from the neocons and corporate types. CMB would be very good choice. JMHO.

39. The ideal VP candidate
It would be an African American with international, military and national security experience. Both to plug the resume gaps and to make up for the fact that black voters have essentially been gerrymandered out of the electoral process in New Hampshire and Iowa.

Why the ideal candidate is -- Colin Powell. LOL

(Joking and ducking.)

13. One of her campaign mgrs,
early on, moved to the Dean campaign. It was at the same time that I'd seen them being friendly- maybe at the memorial for the March On Washington- and I thought then that there might be some affinity there.

22. If the DNC backed Braun's candidacy to dilute support in the AA community
for Al Sharpton, then it doesn't make sense that she would back Dean if she dropped out.

27. I feel the same way
I noticed the same thing during the debates, especially when she mentioned Paul Simon and Dean. I think she is putting her marbles in with Dean to get a job.

Well, I always felt that she was a resourceful woman, but she is going to be sh@t out of luck when Clark gets the nomination!!!

30. I suggested Dean - Braun month ago
and even made a thread - that took nowhere but to Hillary. Nice to see I was not alone.

What should be understood that these are not ordinary times, but alas, interesting times. Therefore 2004 will not be an ordinary campaign but revolutionary campaign, not about which candidate whores better for the center, but fires up the base, brings new voters. Brings the activists to activate the people who don't usually vote. Or are not allowed to vote. Remember, friends, winning the vote and the election is not enough, it may be stolen, it there is not credible enough threat of revolution, citizens taking up arms against corporate fascism in USA. Therefore, Braun will be excellent VP and a winner.

31. No, she's definitely a diplomatic type
Her people skills and her obvious intelligence make her a wonderful candidate for a very high-ranking U.N. or State Department job.

Unfortunately, she has too much baggage for the VP slot, and if Dean wins the nomination he is going to have to plug that hole in his resume.

34. She would be better in a U.N. or diplomatic job
She would be Dean's direct repudiation of the terrible damage Bush has done in the international community to health care and women's issues.

Under any Democratic administration, the U.N. is going to play an important role in stabilizing Iraq, Afghanistan and other troubled areas. CMB's particular blend of intelligence, people skills, strength and persistence would be ideal for a major leadership role as we rebuild nations, establish working governments and coordinate humanitarian assistance.

36. I think so, too
I think the Dean campaign hiring Andi Pringle caused a bit of a rift a few months ago, but CMB has class. I'd love to see a Dean/Braun ticket, if they could ditch Brauns' "false baggage".
